Peru swimmers finish unbeaten

PLATTSBURGH — The Peru Indians went four-for-four Friday in putting the finishing touches on a perfect season in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls' swimming.

Four girls — Kelsie Miller, Sarah Connolly, Molly Wilkins and Caitlin Houle — figured for four firsts each in a 113-57 triumph over Plattsburgh High on the final night of the dual-meet season.

Peru (6-0) won every event and swept the first three places in the 100-yard butterfly.

Plattsburgh High finished the season at 4-2.

CLINTONVILLE — Sierra Cotrona broke a seven-year-old school record and Brittany Friedrich claimed three firsts to lead AuSable Valley (2-4) over visiting Moriah (0-6).

Cotrona, a double winner, won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.85, topping the old AuSable Valley record of 2:07.20 set by Jillian Post in 2002.

Friedrich won the 500-yard freestyle and added two firsts in the relays while Alex Hoey captured the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle.

Moriah's Emily Simard won the 100-yard butterfly in a personal-best of 1:30.13. Simard edged AuSable Valley's Emma Helfgott by just .54 of a second in the closest race of the meet.
