Bulldogs win 14th in volleyball

You can look back over the last 70 years at some of the area athletes and personalities who made headlines in area sports. Flashback will revive memories of great local athletes and outstanding team successes.

CHATEAUGAY — The Chateaugay Bulldogs moved a step closer to wrapping up the East Division title with a 3-0 victory over the Franklin Academy Huskies Friday in Northern Athletic Conference girls' volleyball.

The Bulldogs won 25-18, 25-11, 25-13 to improve to 14-0 and 8-0 in the division. Chateaugay travels to once-beaten Massena on Tuesday with a chance to clinch the division title. The Bulldogs then close out the regular season at Tupper Lake on Thursday.

Cindy Harrigan served 17 points with seven aces and chipped in with 11 assists and seven kills to lead Chateaugay over Malone. Annie Smith had another stellar night at the net with 19 kills while Michelle Swanston recorded seven kills.

Erica Labombard was credited with 25 assists and one block while Stephanie Boyea served seven points with two aces to go with two kills. Amanda Woodward contributed nine points with two aces.
