GRANVILLE — The Adams Glass Senior Babe Ruth baseball team played very well Sunday, but stranded too many runners in two tough losses to the Granville Legion — 4-2 and 4-3.
In the first game, Granville erased a 2-1 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Then, in the second contest, Granville held on for the victory when Adams Glass scored two in the seventh to pull to within one.
“We played well,” said Adams Glass coach John Demarais. “There was a questionable call on strike three with the bases loaded in the seventh inning.
“But we stranded 21 combined runners in the two games and that was on us. We have to do a better job pushing some runs across. But we’re getting good work out of our pitchers and our players battle and play hard.”
In the opener, Ryan McCall paced Adams Glass with two singles. Nick Demarais, Luis Pepen Matos, Garrett McLean, Nick Uliva and Josh Robinson chipped in with a single each.
Pepen Matos, Garrett McLean and Austin Medeiros did the pitching for the visitors, with McLean taking the loss in relief.
In the second game, Demarais and Uliva rapped out two singles each for Adams Glass (2-4), while McCall, Kyle Sprague, Jared McLean and Garrett McLean all ended up with a single apiece.
Austin House took the pitching loss, with Demarais and Medeiros working in relief.
