CANTON — Chateaugay, state runner-up in Class D last fall, opened its 2009 volleyball season on a high note Tuesday with a 25-12, 25-7, 25-11 shutout of host Canton in Northern Athletic Conference play.
Michelle Swanston served 23 points with 12 aces and had six kills for the Bulldogs while Cindy Harrigan served nine points with seven aces and also had 10 assists and five kills. Annie Smith was credited with nine points, three aces and nine kills while Erica LaBombard contributed 14 assists.
Chateaugay will open its home season Thursday with Potsdam.
