NORTHPORT — The Plattsburgh State men's lacrosse team was looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season Wednesday.
The Cardinals did it in a big way.
Luke Weidlein and Kyle Norchi each accounted for four goals and four assists in Plattsburgh State's 25-8 non-conference win over Briarcliffe College.
Plattsburgh State, which is now 4-1 on the season, dropped a 17-4 decision at Saint Mary's (Md.) on Monday.
"It was great for us to rebound from the tough and disheartening loss," said Plattsburgh State head coach P.J. Kavanagh. "We came out fast and executed our gameplan to a T.
"If we can continue this positive momentum, it will bode well for us."
Pete Morgan added five goals for the Cardinals, while Tommy Kilderry added two goals and an assist, and Ryan Hastings, two goals.
"We had a chance to play a lot of people and the entire roster got some playing time," Kavanagh said. "We had 16 different players get points."
Ryan Price had 19 groundballs for Plattsburgh State.
"For all I know, that might be a school record," Kavanagh said.
The Cardinals took early control with a 9-2 lead in the first quarter.
Plattsburgh State held a 15-4 advantage at the half and an 24-5 lead after three.
The Cardinals dominated the game statiscally, including a 76-23 shot advantage. All four Plattsburgh State goalies played and combined for three saves.
