EAST GREENBUSH — COLCHESTER, Vt. — Peru won the team championship and Saranac's Ben Perry won his 100th-career match Saturday at the Colchester, Vt. Wrestling Invitational.
The Indians took first place in the event with 242.5 points, while the Chiefs were second with 203. Host Colchester was a distant third with 102.
Six Peru wrestlers won their respective weight classes — Kyler Agoney at 106, Jacob Goddeau at 132, Nick Forget at 138, Noah Phillips at 145, Troy Seymour at 170 and Luke McKee at 220.
Forget and McKee pinned their opponents in the finals, while Goddeau won by technical fall, Agoney by major decision, and both Phillips and Seymour by decision.
Taking second for the Indians were Tanner Phillips at 120, Jordan Bushey at 126 and Derrick Cumber at 285. Finishing in third were Brandon Goddeau at 99, Max Marte at 113 and Josh Wright at 152.
"We wrestled well," Peru co-head coach Gary Edwards said. "We placed nine in the finals and were able to win six of them."
Peru had 14 of their wrestlers place.
Perry leads Chiefs
Ben Perry (195), Codie Gillette (120) and Trevor Goddeau (126) won individual championships for Saranac.
Perry, who went 3-0 on the day, recorded a 12-2 decision over Mount Mansfield's Tyler Raymond in the finals for the 100th win in his varsity career.
Gillette and Goddeau also compiled 3-0 records on the day, with wins over Peru's Tanner Phillips and Jordan Bushey, respectively, in the finals.
"We wrestled pretty well," Saranac coach Heath Smith said. "Ben got his 100th win and Trevor Goddeau was also tough."
The Chiefs also had three wrestlers finish second — Shawn LaGraves at 96, Joe Perry at 152 and Nate Wood at 182.
Four other Saranac matmen were third — Will Marcil at 132, Austin LaTulip at 138, Paul Herrera at 220 and Josh Ryan at 285.
The Chiefs had 11 of their wrestlers place.

Head goes 5-0
Hayden Head compiled a 5-0 record at 285 pounds to lead Beekmantown to a third-place finish in the Columbia Blue Devils Dual Tournament.
The Eagles finished with a 3-2 dual meet record, with wins over Green Tech of Albany (63-6), Scotia-Glenville (60-15) and Schenectady (54-21).
Beekmantown's losses were to host Columbia (61-15) and Warrensburg (48-30).
"We wrestled pretty well," Beekmantown assistant coach Greg Myers said. "We were giving up three weight classes most of the time.
"Columbia is the real deal and they're tough. The highlight of the day for us was Hayden Head recording a 6-3 win in the finals over the Columbia kid who is ranked either third or fourth in the state in Large Schools."
Head was the only Beekmantown wrestler to go unbeaten on the day.
Four Eagles — Anthony Cartee at 99, Konner German at 113, Tyler Myers at 132, Dylan Peryea at 160, Brandon Defayette at 170-182 and Gage Bourdeau at 182-195 — all compiled 4-1 marks.
Eathan Bacon (120), Jon Graziane (126) and Zachary Myers (152) went 3-2 for the Eagles, who are now 17-17 on the season.
