Don’t state as a fact something that is unsubstantiated or that our editors wouldn't know to be true.

Don’t presume someone’s guilt in a case when it hasn't been established by a court.

Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

We monitor comments Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Approval of comments outside these times may be delayed.

P-R coaching forms, tournaments needed

PLATTSBURGH — The Press-Republican sports department is still in need of coaching forms for the fall season.

Send all forms to sports@pressrepublican.com as soon as possible.

If your team is holding, or participating in, a tournament during the season, please let us know soon so that we may add it to the area sports schedule.

NAC modified volleyball practice begins

ELLENBURG — Northern Adirondack is currently holding modified volleyball practice at the Elementary building beginning at 9 a.m. and running until 11 a.m.

All players should be reporting to practice at this time.

 

NCCS soccer tourney announced

CHAMPLAIN — Northeastern Clinton Central School will be hosting its annual preseason soccer tournaments August 28 through August 31.

The NCCS Booster Club JV tournament will be held today, Peru vs Saranac at 5:30 p.m. and NAC vs NCCS at 7:30 p.m. The championship game will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. There will be no consolation game.

NCCS/Pizza Hut Cougars Classic soccer tournament will be held Thursday, AuSable Valley vs Peru at 5:00 p.m. and Lake Placid vs NCCS at 7:00 p.m. The consolation game will be August 31 at 5:00 p.m. followed by the championship game at 7:00 p.m. Admission to games is $2.00.

 

Youth bowling sign-ups scheduled

PLATTSBURGH — North Bowl Lanes has announced that it will hold youth bowling sign-ups today and tomorrow from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

There is a $17 registration fee and each youth that joins receives two practice games that night.

 

North Country Handicap League starts Sept. 4

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Handicap league will hold its organizational meeting at 6:15 on September 4 at North Bowl Lanes, with bowling to follow at 7 p.m.

Important information will be discussed. Any new bowlers are invited, either individuals or full five-man teams. For more information, call Harold, at 561-3220, or North Bowl Lanes, at 561-1690.
