Adams Glass sweeps Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — The Adams Glass Senior Babe Ruth team has been on a roll lately, and it didn’t stop Saturday.

Adams Glass swept the Middlebury, Vt. Senior Babe Ruth team in two games by scores of 6-2 and 5-3 to give it a six-game winning streak.

In the first game, Adams Glass plated two runs in the third inning via an RBI groundout by Kyle Sprague and an RBI single by Austin Medeiros for a 3-0 lead.

Middlebury made it close by scoring two in the fifth. After Middlebury loaded the bases, Cody Alexander plated a run via a groundout, and Joseph Neidorf singled in a run.

Adams Glass got more cushion in the top of the seventh when Austin Medeiros singled with the bases loaded, and with the help of a Middlebury error, the bases were cleared for a 6-2 lead.

Garrett McLean started and earned the win on the mound.

Nick Demarais and Medeiros led Adams Glass (13-10-2) with two hits apiece. McLean, Ryan McCall and Nick Uliva also had singles.

In the second game, Middlebury jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, with Adams Glass cutting the lead to 3-1 with a run in the second via an RBI single by Uliva.

Adams Glass scored on three straight singles by Tristan Archambault, Garrett McLean and Jared McLean to take a 4-3 lead in the third inning.

Demarais started and settled down after the first, giving up just three hits as he pitched a complete-game victory. He struck out five.

Jared McLean finished with two singles.

“We are playing solid defense and scoring early, which allows our pitchers to throw with confidence,” Adams Glass coach John Demarais said. “Garrett, Kyle (Sprague) and Nick were outstanding on the mound for us (Saturday).”

Plattsburgh splits

ARANAC — The Plattsburgh Senior Babe Ruth baseball team bounced back from a one-sided loss in the first game for an 8-4 victory over the Ogdensburg Maples and a split of their doubleheader Saturday.

The Maples recorded a 10-0, six-inning win in the opener.

In the second game, Plattsburgh took the lead with three runs in the first and added to a 4-3 lead with four in the fifth.

Kyle Erickson struck out seven and allowed seven hits in going the distance for the pitching win.

Brady Burleigh went 3-for-3, including two RBI, to lead Plattsburgh offensively. Erickson added a triple and single, and Andrew Tedford a double and single. Jordan Gillespie, Jonas Miller, Jacob Kennedy, Alex Maston, Garrett Manchester and Matt Corrow chipped in with a hit each in a 13-hit attack.

Lefty Arsenault paced the Maples with a double and single, while Breton LaRose added two hits. Kinnon LaRose took the pitching loss.

In the first game, Geoff Baldwin struck out five and allowed two hits in pitching five shutout innings for the win.

Brent Wentworth placed Ogdensburg with three hits, while Arsenault and Breton LaRose each had two. Andrew Cole homered and one of Arsenault’s hits was a triple. The Maples scored at least one run in every inning but the third.

Kennedy doubled for Plattsburgh, and Tedford and Burleigh added singles. Jonas Miller was the losing hurler.

Plattsburgh is in Burlington, Vt. today for a doubleheader against the Vermont Outlaws.
