The Barracks 10-4-4 tourney on Sunday
PLATTSBURGH — The Barracks Golf Course will hold a 10-4-4 Golf Tournament on Sunday, September 30. There will be a mini-shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The format is two-man teams, with a scramble on the par 4’s, alternate shots on the par 5’s and accumulate score on the par 3’s. Handicap is divided by four.
The entry fee of $50 per team includes skins, greens fees and cart. The cost for non-members is $30 each. Players over 70 can play from the senior tees if that is where their handicap has been established.

Yanchitis memorial golf tourney on Sunday
SARANAC LAKE — The 10th-Annual Ed Yanchitis Senior Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off at 9 a.m. at the Saranac Inn Golf & Country Club on Sunday, September 30.
The two-person scramble tournament will award cash prizes for the top three places. The $85 entry fee includes a cart and steak dinner. All proceeds go to a scholarship fund for a college-bound graduating Saranac Lake High School student.

Douglas rolls 300 in youth bowling league
PLATTSBURGH — Ryan Douglas, a junior at Beekmantown Central School, rolled a 300 game on September 22 while bowling in the North Bowl Lanes Junior-Major-Senior Scholarship League.
Douglas, bowling for the Don’t Go Back There team, put together a 214-300-194-735 series. It was his first-career 300 game and he carries a 196 average in the league.
Snowmobile club to meet on October 2
REDFORD — The Trailgroomers Snowmobile Club will be holding a meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2 at Big Daddy’s.

PLATTSBURGH — There will be a Plattsburgh High School Booster Club meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 7 in Room 310. Enter the school at the back parking lot near the tennis courts. All new members are welcome.
Ward Lumber announces Buck Contest
JAY — Ward Lumber has announced the 20th anniversary of its annual Buck Contest with bigger prizes, more ways to win and a new scoring system.
There are now three ways to win: Biggest Buck, Smallest Buck (new) and Random Drawing. New this year, the Biggest Buck and Smallest Buck winners will be determined by calculating the weight X points. Biggest Buck wins a $250 Ward Lumber gift card and the Smallest Buck a $50 gift card. All other entries are put into a random drawing to win a $100 gift card. All contestants will receive a baseball cap just for entering and no pre-registration is required.
The contest is free and runs through Saturday, December 8. A winner in each category will be selected after December 8. All hunters will be photographed with their bucks for promotional purposes. If you supply and e-mail address at the time of entry, we will e-mail the photo to you.

Marciniak and Christon top finishers in Run For Reading
CADYVILLE — Alex Marciniak was the top-finishing male at 22:56 while Beth Christon was the top female finisher at 26:29 in the three-mile run event of this year’s Run For Reading held at the Cadyville Rec. Park Sept. 23. Andrew MacDougall and Kamissa Kone were the top-two finishers in the one-mile walk. The event was co-sponsored by Literacy Volunteers of Essex/Frankin Counties and Literacy Volunteers of Clinton County.

‘Bring A Buddy’ tourney Oct. 14
PLATTSBURGH — The North Bowl youth bowling program is having their first ever “Bring A Buddy” 9-pin tournament on Sunday Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. Yough bowlers that are members of the Saturday mourning program at North Bowl Lanes will be able to invite a “buddy” to bowl in a doubles fun tournament. (The buddy can not already be a can not currently bowl in the program, but must be a youth. Bumpers and Bantums entry fee will be $10 per team for two games each, including shoe rental, pizza, and awards. Preps, Jr., Mj., and Sr. will be $15 per team for three games each, including shoe rental, pizza, and awards.
Adult volleyball set for Bailey Avenue
PLATTSBURGH — Bailey Avenue School will be holding adult volleyball at the school’s gym on Oct. 11, 18, 25, Nov. 1, 8, 15, 29, Dec. 6, 13, 20. It will run from 6-8 p.m. The entry fee is $20 for city residents, $25 for non residents, and $15 for senior gold card members (city residents 55 or older). The Bass Federation of NY holding youth qualifier
TICONDEROGA — NYTFB will be holding the 2013 youth qualifier bass fishing tournament on Oct. 7 at the Ticonderoga boat launch. The event will be open to all youth anglers ages 11-18 as of 8/31/13. The event will start at 7 a.m. and run until 1 p.m. with a BBQ following the tournament. The event is also in need of volunteer boat captains to take the kids out on Lake Champlain. The boat must be safe and capable of keeping two limits of fish in a livewell. Winners of this tournament will be entered for the major NYTFB youth tournament in 2013.
