Latremore Be the Match Soccer Classic set
CHAZY — The Chazy girls’ varsity soccer team will be hosting the 2nd-Annual Mary Latremore Be the Match Fall Soccer Classic Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
Be the Match helps patients who need a bone marrow transplant find a donor and receive the treatment they need. When you join the Be the Match Registry, you become every patient’s search for a donor. The Registry guidelines include: be between the ages of 18 and 60; be willing to donate to any patient in need; and meet the health guidelines.
“Mary Latremore was born and raised in Chazy and was very dedicated to her family and the young community,” said Chazy coach Karin Sherman Trombley. “She passed away five years ago of Multiple Melanoma. Four years ago, my sister was diagnosed with bone marrow failure — Aplastic Anemia. She currently does not need a bone marrow transplant but if so she will have to rely on the Bone Marrow Registry because my brother and I were not a match. Both my mother and sister have joined me as Ambassadors for Be the Match.”
Each bone marrow kit costs $100 and this weekend free kits will be given out. Also be accepted are monetary donations to the Registry.

The Barracks to hold Member/Member tourney Sunday
PLATTSBURGH — The Barracks will hold its Member/Member Tournament on Sunday, with tee times starting at 9 a.m.
This year’s format is a 2-man projected best ball. Using a USGA Chart and both members’ handicaps, a projected best ball score is determined. That score is subtracted from par 72 and that difference is the handicap for the team’s best ball.
There will be men’s and women’s divisions. The entry fee per team is $40 (does not include skins). Carts are extra. There is a sign-up sheet in the club house or you can contact Mike Dodds, at 593-2792.
