PLATTSBURGH — Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and Section VII champion Saranac Lake leads the way with four selections on the 2012 CVAC Golf All-Star Team.
Dustin Fischer, Kyle Dora, Matt Clark and Ethan Sawyer represent the Red Storm on the team.
Rounding out the list of CVAC All-Stars are Northeastern Clinton’s Nolan Reid, AuSable Valley’s John Hickey, Beekmantown’s MaCullen Cope, Plattsburgh High’s Ethan Votraw, the Section VII individual champion, and Lucas Wood, and Lake Placid’s Dustin Jacques.
Ethan Votraw, Plattsburgh High senior- Votraw finished off his brilliant career by winning the Section VII individual championship in 2012. He appeared in the state tournament for fifth time this season. Votraw’s match-play average was 38.8 this year and he went 7-3 against CVAC opponents. His career record stands at 46-12, with 31 rounds in the 30’s.
John Hickey, AuSable Valley senior- Hickey capped off an outstanding career for the Patriots. Hickey, who was the Section VII individual champion and Craig Chisum Tournament champion in 2011, made his fourth trip to the state meet in 2012. His 2012 match-play average was 36 and his record against CVAC opponents was 9-1. Hickey’s career mark was 40-18-1.
Dustin Fischer, Saranac Lake sophomore- Fischer, who made his first trip to the states this season, had a match-play average of 38.3. His 2012 record was 8-1-1 and Fischer has a 16-1-1 career mark.
Kyle Dora, Saranac Lake senior- Dora, who also made his first appearance at the states, compiled a match-play average of 43.7. His 2012 record stood at 7-1-2 and Dora sported a 21-5-3 mark for his career.
Matt Clark, Saranac Lake senior- A captain on the 2012 Saranac Lake team, Clark’s match-play average was 44.0. He went 9-1 against opponents this season and finished with an 18-2-1 career record. Clark was a two-time state alternate for Section VII.
Ethan Sawyer, Saranac Lake freshman- Only a ninth-grader, Sawyer had an outstanding season for the Red Storm as he finished 10-0 against CVAC opponents to go along with a 39.9 match-play average.
Nolan Reid, Northeastern Clinton junior- A two-time performer at the state meet, Reid’s match-play average this year was 40.0. Against CVAC opponents, he played against the top golfers from other teams and went 6-3-1 in doing so.
Lucas Wood, Plattsburgh High senior- The senior made his first appearance at the state meet in 2012. His match-play average was 42.1 this season. Wood compiled a 7-2 CVAC record this year and finished 27-4-1 for his career.
MaCullen Cope, Beekmantown senior- The Eagles’ standout compiled a 7-3 mark playing against the opponents’ best golfers and had a match-play average of 42. The senior finished with a 22-8 career record.
Dustin Jacques, Lake Placid senior- Jacques, who also made the CVAC hockey all-star first team, finished 2012 with a match-play average of 42. Jacques’ season record versus standout golfers from opposing teams was 6-4.
