Happy Seniors league meeting Wednesday

PLATTSBURGH — The Happy Seniors Bowling League will have an organizational meeting Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at North Bowl Lanes. The newly formed league bowls Wednesday afternoon’s at 12:30 p.m. and is 100 percent handicapped. It’s open to any combination of men or women ages 50-years-old and older. Lake Placid Hall of Fame nominations revealed

LAKE PLACID — The inductees for the Lake Placid Hall of Fame class of 2012 include: Jack and Joan Devitt, Shirley Hosler, Roy Kennedy Sr., James E. Shea Sr. and Charles C. Walker. The 29th Annual Induction Banquet will be held Sept. 15 at the Comfort Inn in Lake Placid. Tickets are $30 and are available at the Olympic Center box office through Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Jaquish, Provost grab division titles

WILSBORO — Brandon Jaquish won his second consecutive club championship Sunday defeating two-time champion and six-time runner-up Brandon Smith by a stroke. Arnie Provost claimed the net division title by firing a 68-65-133 to win by five shots over Brad Paye.

Moriah Shock Sector scramble set for Aug. 25

MORIAH — The Moriah Country Club will be hosting the second annual NYSCOPBA Moriah Shock Sector four-person scramble Saturday. Registration is at 9 a.m. Tournament play begins at 10 a.m. Entry fees are $35 for members and $45 for nonmembers. The event includes lunch and steak dinner following play.

 

Three-person scramble scheduled for Sept. 1

MORIAH — The annual three-person Scramble will be Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. Entry fees are $35 for members and $45 for non-members. There will be two flights, “Bring Your Best,” and handicapped events. Call 546-9979 for more information.

 

Modzelewski wins club championship

Lake Placid — Bob Modzelewski, who won last month’s Whiteface Open, returned on day two to overtake the field and win the club championship at Whiteface Club and Resort golf course. Modzelewski fired rounds of 77-72-149 on the par 71 Whiteface Club Layout.

Sandy Caligiore captured the senior division title by four shots with scores of 81-77 for a two-day total of 158.

Caroline Roy coasted to the women’s crown with consecutive 82s for 164.

Betsy Senkowski was the ladies senior champion at 191.

A total of 19 pro-am teams are registered for the Aug. 28 event, which benefits the Adirondack Carousel in Saranac Lake. It will be followed by a 54-hole professional tournament Aug. 29-31. There is still availability for hole sponsors and spectators are welcome at no charge.

 

“Rally for the Lake” event attracts 110 runners

CHATEAUGAY — Over 110 runners and walkers attended the first-ever Chateaugay Lake 5K run and one-mile fun walk Aug. 18. Runners set off from Camp Jeanne d’Arc on a route along the shoreline of the lake.

Towns tallies hole-in-one

MORIAH — Pete Towns recorded a hole-in-one on the 140-yard par three at Moriah Country Club July 18. Witnesses were Jim Bouyea, Roy Cutting and Jason Mazzotte.

 

Chesterfield F&G Club set for pistol match Sept. 29

CLINTONVILLE — The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) is offering a competitive pistol IDPA match starting at 8:30 a.m. for sign-in, 9 a.m. safety briefing, and a 9:30 a.m. match start time on Sept. 29 at Chesterfield Field & Game Club.

In addition, IDPA will introduce a shotgun and rifle match for those who possess a pistol permit. All competitors must register online or via phone to the match director to receive match rules and guidelines.

 

Willsboro bowling meeting Aug. 27

WILLSBORO — The Willsboro USBC Affiliate Association will host its annual meeting Monday, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Willsboro Bowling Center.

Weekenders meeting set for Thursday

PLATTSBURGH — The Weekenders Mixed Bowling League team meeting will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. at North Bowl Lanes.

Teams will consist of two men and two women (four people per team). Bowling will start at 7 p.m. on Sept. 8.
