Saranac Booster Club to meet tonight
SARANAC — The Saranac Booster Club will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the high school. Parents and anyone interested in volunteering are welcome to attend.
Loreman’s/Egglefield’s win softball title
KEESEVILLE — The Keeseville Medium-Pitch Softball League held its playoffs on Saturday and Loreman’s/Egglefield Ford is again champions.
In the semifinals, Loreman’s/Egglefield’s defeated Willsboro, 14-3, in five innings. Jared Peryea led the winners with three hits, while Colby Pulsifer and Ed Janek added two apiece. Janek and D.J. Barber hit home runs in support of winning pitcher Brian Smith. Nate Jacques and Josh Palmer homered for Willsboro.
In the championship game, Loreman’s/Egglefield’s edged out an 8-7 victory over MTN Valley Integrated Solutions. Smith picked up the win and Thom Loreman Sr. went 3-for-3, with a triple. Janek and Barber each added a double and single, while Justin Mahan had two singles. In a losing cause, Kiel Peryea rapped out three hits, including two home runs, and Tory Bouyea added a double and triple.
ADK to hold nature walk on Wednesday
SARANAC — The public is invited to join the Algonquin Chapter of the ADK for a nature walk at the Saranac New Land Trust on Wednesday. The nature walks are a new weekly series, led by Jim King, starting at 10 a.m. each Wednesday.

Ameri-Can North to hold skating, stick-n-puck
PLATTSBURGH — The Ameri-Can North Sports Center will be holding stick-n-puck on Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Public skating will take place on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
PSU’s Depo earns all-academic honors
NEW ORLEANS — Ben Depo of the Plattsburgh State men’s track and field team is one of four student-athletes from the State University of New York Athletic Conference to be named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) men’s Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team. A total of 226 student-athletes from 84 Division III institutions are represented in the group.
To qualify for the honors, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 in a relay event.
Depo, from Saranac, had two top 35 listings during the 2011-12 academic year. During the indoor season, Depo ranked 17th in the heptathlon with a total of 4,622 points at the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational. Depo continued to perform well during the outdoor season, compling 6,0555 points in the decathlon at the Army Dick Shea Open in March to finish with the 30th-best total in Division III.

CHESTERFIELD — The Chesterfield Fish & Game Club rifle range will be closesd August 17 and August 18 for the International Defensive Pistol Association classifier match.

Plattsburgh, youth bureau to sponsor day hike
SILVER LAKE — The Town of Plattsburgh and the Clinton County Youth Bureau will be co-sponsoring a day hike to Silver Lake Mountain or the Silver Lake Bog, west of Saranac, on Friday. The mountain is an easy to moderate climb and the Bog is a flat walk on trail and boardwalk.
The town will provide bus transportation to and from both locations and the youth bureau will provide staff for supervision. Hikers will need to pack a lunch and carry extra water in a backpack. The bus will leave the town office at 9 a.m. and return at approximately 2 p.m. The trip is free and open to any youth ages 12 and up. Any adult wishing to go can call for availability.
All participants must register by calling the Town Recreation Office, at 562-6860, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, no later than Thursday.
Plattsburgh Lacrosse Club looking for players
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Lacrosse Club is looking for boys and girls born after 9/1/99 to join its team. The club is currently holding practices and clinics for all ages and skill levels.

PSU to hold “Learn to Swim Program”
PLATTSBURGH — The Department of Sport and Wellness at SUNY Plattsburgh is offering a 9-week “Learn to Swim Program” on Saturday mornings from September 8 to November 17. There will be no class on October 6.
The cost is $45 per students. Children must be five years of age or older, comfortable in the water and at least 47 inches tall.
