AKWESASNE — Mike Arquiett posted his first career Sportsman win at Mohawk International Raceway Friday night.
Arquiett had a shot at the lead and he made it work as he motored away with the top spot over Dana Aikens.
Arquiett struggled for many years in Pro Stock but finally put it together for his first career Sportsman win and he cruised to a full straightaway win over Aikens, Dylan Evoy, Wyatt Mullin and Nolan Swamp.
In the 358 modified event, Billy Dunn used the top side to pull in front on lap 19 and open up a commanding lead. He scored his fifth win of the season over Gage Morin, Carey Terrance, Matt Billings, and Danny O’Brien.
In the Pro Stock Division, Dion Oakes cruised to his second victory of the season.
In the Bandit division, Stuart Mossow and Mathieu Aubin had combined to win the previous seven races.
It was Aubin who decided to pad his point lead as he motored away from everyone to earn his fifth win and third in a row. Bob Ray, Danny Lefebvre, newcomer Billy Laplant and Mossow rounded out the top five.
Bryan Green grabbed the Mod Lite lead early in the 15-lap contest, and despite the cautions, nobody had anything for him as he recorded his fourth win of the season. Scott Waldorff, Eric Desilets, Sylvain Laframboise and Harley Brown followed.
Racing will return on Aug. 17.. The Brass Horse will present the final round of the Bailey Motor Company Pro Stock Series, along with a Topless Mod Lite event and a regular card for Modifieds, Sportsman, and Bandits. Start time will be 7:30 p.m.
