PLATTSBURGH — Luke Geyette's three-run triple in the top of the fifth inning Saturday was the key hit in the Green Mountain League's 10-6 win over the Champlain Valley Baseball League All-Stars at Plattsburgh State's Chip Cummings Field.
The CVBL All-Stars grabbed an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning in the exhibition game played with wood bats.
But, the Green Mountain League, trailing by a 4-1 score, tallied four runs in the fifth to take the lead.
The CVBL tied it with a run in the bottom of the sixth only to have the Green Mountain League regain the advantage, this time for good, with two in the seventh.
John Quomg, Geyette, John Handy and Cory Pike led the Green Mountain League with two hits each, with Pike getting two doubles and Quomg, a two-run double.
Pat Shaughnessy and Billy Davis rapped out three hits each to lead the CVBL, with Shaughnessy driving in three runs.
Nick Lamica and Kyle Kowalowski chipped in with two hits apiece, with Kowalowski getting a RBI double.
Both all-star teams finished with 11 hits in the contest. The Green Mountain League, from Vermont, was able to avenge last year's setback to the CVBL.
