PLATTSBURGH — The best players in the Champlain Valley Baseball League will be in action today at Plattsburgh State's Chip Cummings Field when Vermont's Green Mountain League All-Stars provide the opposition at noon.
This is the second year the two leagues have met in an all-star game, with the CVBL winning last season.
The contest, which is expected to become an annual event, will be nine innings in length and feature wood bats.
Representing the first-place Meron's Expos will be Tory Bouyea (13-33, .394, 4 home runs, 19 RBI), Pat Shaughnessy (16-42, .381, 4 doubles, 2 home runs, 10 RBI), Nick Lamica (24-59, .407, 4 doubles, 4 home runs, 18 RBI) and Billy Davis (19-40, .475, 4 home runs, 14 RBI; 9-1 record, 67 innings, 54 strikeouts, 2.72 ERA).
The second-place Lyon Mountain Miners will be represented by Jerry Kowalowski (21-40, .525, 2 home runs, 15 RBI), Dave Waldron (5-1 record; 21-49; .407, 21 RBI, 4 doubles, 5 home runs) and Kyle Kowalowski (30-55, .545, 26 RBI, 7 doubles, 1 home run).
From the Fourth Ward Timberjaxx are Jimmy Knight Jr. (18-34, .525, 2 home runs, 12 RBI), D.J. Barber (12-47, .255) and Matt Lamora (39.2 innings, 34 strikeouts).
Craig Bujold, Steve Burris and Nate Durkee are the Plattsburgh Cardinals playing in the game, Jordan Keysor, Mark Eggleston and Matt Rivers from the Airborne Speedway/Hockey Plus Padres and Michael Howard, Kevin Jessey and Reilly Lawless from the Fourth Ward A's.
The CVBL All-Stars are asked to arrive at 10:30 a.m. for batting practice.
