Eagles finish unbeaten in regular season

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown girls' volleyball team closed out a 16-0 regular season in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference play Friday with a 3-0 victory over second-place Peru.

All three games were competitive as the Eagles prevailed by scores of 25-19, 26-24, 25-19.

"They were three very close games," Beekmantown coach Shana Fessette-Hileman said. "Peru was very dominant on defense, especially Abby Higgins. They played phenomenal defense and did not make a lot of offensive errors.

"Our serving is coming around and has improved quite a bit at a key time. Jordynne Ales, Molly Sorrell and Chelsey Besaw led the way serving for us. Offensively, Shannon Ryan had a great night and everyone did well."

Ales served 12 points for the Eagles, while Sorrell was next with 11 and Besaw 10.

Kiane Archer led Beekmantown with 24 assists, while Ryan finished with a team-high 11 kills. Besaw also chipped in with six kills, while Sorrell added five. Kendra LaFountain recorded a team-high 18 digs, followed by Ales with 13 and Sorrell 10.

Higgins was a standout for the Indians with 10 points, four aces, eight kills and 25 digs.

Paige Moore added six kills, while Callie Garcia finished with 15 digs. Lea Perry chipped in with a team-high 11 assists and Sam Banker added 10.

CLINTONVILLE — Jasmine Barnard came within one point of a triple-double in leading the Chiefs (10-6) past the Patriots.

Barnard finished with nine points, 18 assists and 11 digs in Saranac's 25-22, 16-25, 25-19, 25-11 victory.

Stephanie Linder added 15 kills and 12 digs, Katelyn Gates eight points, six kills, 10 assists and 10 digs, Samantha Aierle 10 points and Danielle Parker 22 digs for Saranac.

Belle O'Toole and Miranda Sheffer each served 10 points for AuSable Valley (5-11), while Noelle Miller added a team-high eight kills. Jacquie Hoey recorded eight points and 23 digs, while O'Toole also chipped in with 20 digs.

ELLENBURG — Tessa King had 17 points, four aces, five kills and eight digs to lead the Bobcats to a sweep.

Nicole Durnin added eight points, two aces, 13 kills, two blocks and a dig for Northern Adirondack (10-6). Emma Trombley had a team-high 14 assists along with three points, two aces, a block and a dig.

Deanna LaBarge tallied eight points, five kills and an ace for Plattsburgh High (10-6). Jaevanna Bucci had five points and an ace, and Katie Cantwell led the Hornets with 12 kills.

LAKE PLACID — Joanna Politi served 22 points and Danielle Balestrini recorded eight kills to lead Lake Placid to a 25-19, 25-16, 25-11 sweep of Northeastern Clinton.

Francesca Pickett added seven points and Balestrini six points for the Blue Bombers (3-13). Serina Hayes had a team-high six assists.

The Cougars (2-13) were led by Vada Loya with 16 digs, Stephanie LaValley eight assists, Kelly Rogers six digs and Tori Duprey four kills.

Sectionals

The Section VII volleyball playoffs will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Peru, the No. 2 seed, will host Saranac, the No. 3 seed, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1 in the Class B semifinals. The winner will play top-seeded Beekmantown at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Clinton Community College in the championship game.

In Class C, Plattsburgh High, the top seed, will host Northeastern Clinton, the No. 4 seed, in the semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 2. On the same night, AuSable Valley, the No. 2 seed, will host No. 3 seed Saranac Lake. Both games start at 6 p.m.

The Class C championship game will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Clinton Community College.

The Class D championship game between Northern Adirondack and Lake Placid will be played at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Champions in each class will advance to regional play on Saturday, Nov. 12 at Plattsburgh State's Memorial Hall.
