10 YEARS AGO (2001)

J & J Excavating of AuSable Forks places sixth in the Fast-Pitch Softball World Series. John Nixon, Drew Plumadore, Greg Garrety and Jason Smith of J & J are named to the second team all-tourney.

Jason Williams scores two goals and adds two assists to lead Beekmantown to its first win over PHS in hockey in 5 years, 7-0.

Nicky Viti scores 28 points and grabs eight rebounds to lead Plattsburgh State to a 76-64 win over Geneseo. The Cards close the semester 6-4.

Jerrad Dumont scores 34 points in Chateaugay's 56-55 loss to Parishville-Hopkinton.

Adam Porter scores on a driving layup witth five seconds to play, lifting Ticonderoga to a 56-54 win over Moriah. Porter finishes with 24 points while Mike Fernandez leads the Vikings with 21.

Stephen Marsh, Jordan Marsh, Ryan Pike and Troy Rabideau win their weight classes to lead Northern Adirondack to the team title over Chaminade in the Goshen Wrestling Tournament.

Joel Butchino scores 26 points and PHS holds on for a 55-51 win over Saranac. Ryan Reif leads the Chiefs with 13.

20 YEARS AGO (1991)

Lana Landry and Cheryl Cayea come through with some clutch baskets late in the game as Northeastern Clinton scores a come-from-behind 47-42 victory over Beekmantown. Suzanne Frenyea nets 14 points with 20 rebounds for the Eagles.

Bart Swan sinks a free throw with 19 seconds left to give Moriah a 59-58 victory over Tupper Lake. Jason Mazzotti leads the Vikings with 23 points while Jay LaRocque scores 24 for the Lumberjacks.

Ryan Flanagan's goal 4:49 into overtime gives Seton Catholic a 3-2 win over St. Dominic's of Lewiston, Me. in the final of the Rice Memorial (Vt.) hockey tournament. Chad Sample contributes a goal and two assists while Zeke Lancto makes 28 saves.

Todd Wright scores 19 points and Craig King, 11, as Plattsburgh State closes out a 7-0 semester with an 84-67 win over Oneonta.

Chris Trina tosses in 26 points to lead Elizabethtown-Lewis to a 67-58 win over Keene. Travis Gagnon nets 27 for the Beavers.

25 YEARS AGO (1986)

Todd Defayette, Jimmy Phillips and Kris Johnson each score twice as St. John's dumps MAI 10-5 in hockey.

Mike Boulrice scores 27 points to spark Northern Adirondack to a 67-53 triumph over Ticonderoga.

Mike Klugman earns a University of Rochester football letter as the Yellowjackets' punter. The former PHS athlete averages 30.4 yards for 32 kicks with his longest 54 yards.

Bobby Adamson claims three firsts and Paul Auger claims two, as AuSable Valley turns in a sharp effort in its non-scoring invitational swim meet.

Kevin Burke hauls down 25 rebounds to go with 18 points in Chateaugay's 46-36 win over Colton-Pierrepont.

Mike Dixon scores 19 points to pace Dannemora to an 84-52 victory over Willsboro. Dale Bigelow leads the Warriors with 18.

30 YEARS AGO (1981)

Michelle Everleth records 17 points and 12 kills while Seena Ferrara contributes 16 points and 10 kills as MAI holds on to beat PHS 3-2 for its 41st straight volleyball win.

Paul Lemza scores 25 points and Charlie Roberts chips in with 12 points and 12 rebounds in Moriah's 54-48 victory over Glens Falls.

Angelo Sutton nets 21 points to lead PHS to a 58-42 victory over Saranac Lake. Ed Thomas tallies 19 for the Redskins.

Tim Preston, Ray Guay and Matt Tolosky all score goals and Guy Conklin makes 33 saves in North Country Community College's 7-2 win over the Norwich University junior varsity.

Dan Clancy, Don Lord, Mike Chagnon, Dale Wood, David Staley, Bill Perkins and Joe Perry win by fall in Saranac's 54-16 wrestling win over Ticonderoga. Darren Hunston records the Sentinels' lone pin.

Todd Pierce tallies 17 points and Doug Costin, 14, to lead Willsboro to a 60-34 victory over Westport. Don McQueen leads the Eagles with 11.

40 YEARS AGO (1971)

Bruce McCaughin fires in 28 points and Frank Hughes hits for 17 in Ticonderoga's 67-55 win over Moriah. Roger Pratt leads the Vikings with 22.

Steve Chilton scores 20 points and Northern Adirondack holds on to edge Saranac 63-62. Steve Parker scores 23 points and Randy Carter, 20, for the Chiefs.

Jeff Trombley nets 30 points and John Riley scores with five seconds to play to give Chazy a 61-60 win over Keene. Steve Manley scores 20 points and Joe LeClair, 18, for the Beavers.

Bushey, Pavone, Chuck Martin and Bernard Martin register pins for PHS in a 30-30 wrestling draw with Ticonderoga. Hargett, Nedeau and Woods have pins for the Sentinels.

John Zerrahn nets 18 points, including two free throws in the waning seconds, to lead Peru to a 71-67 win over MAI. Cortney Smith leads the Mounties with 22.

Pat McDonough scores 12 points while Rick Morrison and Bill Maskell each net 11 to lead a taller Northeastern Clinton team to a 72-52 victory over PHS. John Tyrell leads the Hornets with 17.

50 YEARS AGO (1961)

Fran Wilkins and James Defayette score 10 points to lead PHS past Burlington, Vt., 50-32.

John Gebo and John Lahtinen each net 18 points in Port Henry's 54-46 triumph over Peru. Jim Duprey scores 20 for the Indians.

Bom Comye hits for 15 points to lead Mooers to a 54-44 victory over Champlain. Jack Kennedy leads Champlain with 11.

Wayne Lashway posts 20 points and Neil Breen, 11, in Plattsburgh State's 50-49 victory over Oneonta.

60 YEARS AGO (1951)

Ray Watkins scores 22 points and Dee Diaz, 12, to lead MAI to a 57-38 win over AuSable Forks. Bombard scores 12 points for AuSable.

Paro pumps in 30 points to lead St. Joseph's of Malone to a 74-40 win over Rouses Point.

Dick Jackich nets 20 points and Dick Cusprinie, 19, to spark OLVA to a 52-43 over Keeseville. Bennett and McNierney lead Keeseville with 11 points apiece.

The Benson brothers combine for 39 points in Plattsburgh High's 55-30 win over Ticonderoga. Wayne scores 24 and Dean, 15. Dreimiller and Burleigh lead Ti with 12 points apiece.

70 YEARS AGO (1941)

Ray Trail, 24, of St. Regis Reservation, enlists in the Army. Trail set a national scholastic mile record of 4:22 in 1936 while attending Mont Pleasant of Schenectady.

Nolette nets 10 and Lefebvre nets nine in Rouses Point's 34-20 win over Chateaugay. Hughes scores seven for Chateaugay.

Tolosky scores 13 points and McCorry scores seven, to spark Dannemora to a 28-21 win over MAI. Dragoon and Lynch net 7 apiece for the Mounties.

Francis Steltzer scores 20 points and PHS, trailing 10-2 after one quarter, rallies for a 36-18 win over AuSable Forks. Blakely leads AuSable Forks with seven.
