WINOOSKI, Vt. — The Lake Champlain Lakers 16U National Team wrapped up its AAU basketball season Monday in the Lone Wolf Shootout at St. Michael's College.

The Div. I-II Showcase attracted several outstanding teams from New England and a number of college coaches.

The Lakers, who start four 15-year-old girls, came up short in their three games Monday. They lost to the Mass Frenzy, 54-35. They had beaten the Frenzy earlier in the spring. Katrina Garrand scored nine points and Meg Bowman and Nicole Shepler six each for the Lakers.

Lake Champlain then fell to the Rhode Island Breakers, 53-44, with Garrand Alexis Coolidge and Kelsey Johnson all scoring 11 points. The Lakers dropped a 74-64 decision to the Vermont Cats. Bowman led the Lakers with 23 while Garrand netted 14.

The Lakers finished their season 16-11.
