JCEO tournament set for August 7
PLATTSBURGH — The Joint Council for Economic Opportunity of Clinton and Franklin Counties will be holding its' 2009 Annual Golf Tournament at The Barracks Golf Course on August 7. There will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
JCEO is asking for support by sponsoring a green sign and/or entering a team. The proceeds from the tournament will support JCEO's 12 emergency food pantries. Over 2,000 families receive food and nutrition services each year.
Sponsorship of a tee sign is $100 and the entry fee into the tournament for a four-person team is $300. Make checks payable to JCEO and mail to: JCEO, 54 Margaret Street, Plattsburgh, N.Y., 12901. YMCA/Jeffords Steel event August 28
PLATTSBURGH — The 8th-Annual Plattsburgh YMCA/Jeffords Steel Golf Tournament has been scheduled for August 28. The format will be a four-person scramble. There will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start at The Barracks Golf Course.
Play will be followed by dinner and prizes to be awarded. In addition to prizes for low gross and net scores, there will be prizes for longest drive (men and women), closest to the pin (men and women) and a putting contest. Random prizes will also be awarded.
The entry fee is $60 for members of The Barracks Golf Course and $70 for non-members. For more information, contact Kevin Killeen, at 561-4290.
McCabe Memorial Tourney July 11-12
PORT HENRY — The Moriah Country Club will host the 15th-Annual Ray McCabe Memorial Golf Tournament on July 11-12.
The tournament format is two-person scramble for 36 holes, with flights established after play on Saturday. There will be a shotgun start both days at 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Entry fee is $60 for members and $80 for non-members. Entry fee includes a practice round on Friday, dinner following play Saturday, live band "Just Us" Saturday evening and continental breakfast both days. Cash prizes will be paid in all flights.
Applications have been sent to area courses or can be obtained by calling the Moriah Country Club, at 546-9979.
Registration open for Cricket's tourney
PLATTSBURGH — Cricket's will hold its 8th-Annual Golf Tournament at the Barracks Golf Course Sunday, August 9. The format is a four-person scramble, with a 2-drive shot minimum per person and a $2 mulligan (tee only), limit two per person.
The entrance fee is $65 per person for non-members, $45 for members. The cost includes greens fee, golf cart, prime rib dinner and prizes. To register, return entry form with check to Cricket's in Peru. Registration will be cut off July 30.
The tournament registration will begin 11:30 a.m. Aug. 9 and the shotgun start is scheduled for noon. For more information, call Paul Maynard-Nephew at 643-2433.
Chamber Islands tourney July 23
ALBURG, Vt. — The Champlain Islands Chamber of Commerce will reprise its' Chamber Challenge Golf Tournament at Alburg Golf Links on Thursday, July 23, starting at 12 noon. The day includes a full 18-hole course, a reception and an Awards Banquet at the Links on the Lake Restaurant. Partial proceeds of the tournament will benefit the food shelves in Grand Isle County.
There are a few hole sponsorships left; call the Chamber for information. Teams of four can register by calling the Chamber, at 372-8400 or e-mailing sherri@champlainislands.com. Information is on the web at www.champlainislands.com. Tickets are $400 per team of four, or $100 per person, and include greens fees, carts, goody bags and a fabulous banquet at Links on the Lake. Deadline for ticket sales in July 17th.
Northern Insuring/Chamber event July 17
PERU — The Northern Insuring/Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament will be held Friday, July 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Adirondack Golf & Country Club. Team space is limited and call the Chamber of Commerce, at 563-1000, for more information.
Team entry fee is $450 in the four-person event that includes lunch, cart and dinner. Full teams must register.
Worley records hole-in-one
PLATTSBURGH — C.J. Worley, during the Butcher Block Golf Tournament on June 29 at the Bluff Point Golf Resort, recorded his first-ever hole-in-one when he aced and 186-yard 10th hole. Worley used a four-iron and his shot was witnessed by Ethan Votraw and Gus Reitsma.
