
SARANAC — The Brockway Mechanical Senior Babe Ruth team and Hockey Plus/Loreman's Padres played to a 4-4 tie in nonleague baseball Wednesday.
The game, which was delayed because of lightning, was called after six innings due to darkness.
Josh Chapman led Brockway Mechanical with two hits, while Matt Drollette doubled and Tanner LeCuyer, Kevin Russell and Mitch Wood singled. LeCuyer and Wood drove in runs.
Tyler Mesec, Drollette and LeCuyer pitched two innings apiece for Brockway Mechanical. Jeff Norton went four innings and Pat Hoey two for the Padres of the Champlain Valley Baseball League.
Hoey paced Hockey Plus/Loreman's with three hits, while Matt Rivers added two. Shane Perrotte, Chris Markwica and Joey Painter each doubled, with Painter driving in a run. Cory Trombley and Austin Bushey each singled.
Many of the Hockey Plus/Loreman's players are former Brockway Mechanical players and Doug Brockway, who has been the team's sponsor since its inception, was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first ball Wednesday.
