Golf Classic tee assigments announced
PLATTSBURGH — The McSweeney's/Mission of Hope Golf Classic will be held Thursday, July 2 at the Barracks Golf Club. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m for a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. Dinner and prizes will follow play at about 5:30 p.m.

TBI benefit tourney July 25
ROUSES POINT — The Jeff Hall and Michelle Hall 6th Annual Best Ball Memorial Golf Tournament with all proceeds going to the Traumatic Brain Injury Center will be held Saturday, July 25 at North Country Golf Club. Entrance fee is $65 per person for four-person teams. Shotgun start begins at 8 a.m. Lunch will be served and prizes awarded immediately after the tournament at Bobby's Lounge at 5028 South Catherine Street in Plattsburgh. Applications can be obtained at Bobby's Lounge or by calling Bobby at 335-9570.
The Traumatic Brain Injury Center is a nonprofit community agency serving anyone across the life span with brain trauma from an accident, stroke, tumor or brain disease.
Youth Bureau to host basketball tourney
PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau will host the Ninth Annual Thomas J. O'Connor Memorial Summer Hoops for Youth 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Thursday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. at the City Gym parking lot on the U.S. Oval. Three-person teams must pre-register by July 6 at 5 p.m. No day-of registration will be allowed. From 9 a.m.-9:45 a.m., boys and girls 8 to 18 years of age will be able to check in for this double-elimination tournament at no charge. The field is limited to the first 50 three-person teams to register.
Pre-registration is required as the CCYB expects to fill the 50-team field early. Each participant will receive a free t-shirt. Awards will be presented to the top-three teams in each age group as follows: Boys/Girls 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-18 years of age. Co-ed teams and substitutions are not permitted. To pre-register, submit an entry form with birth certificates and parental signatures to the Youth Bureau, or go to www.clintoncountygov.com and click on Youth Bureau to print a registration form. Complete it and return it to the Youth Bureau with all supporting documentation by 5 p.m. Monday, July 6.

Vermont Voyageurs tryouts July 9-10
Essex Junct., Vt — Tryouts for the Vermont Voyageurs Box Lacrosse Team (Junior ages 17-21) will be held Thursday, July 9 and Friday, July 10 at the Essex Skating Facility. A pre-registration fee of $50 per player payable to "Vermont Voyageurs" includes arena rental, insurance, practice shirt and referees fees. Youth Bureau to host tennis clinics
PLATTSBURGH — The Clinton County Youth Bureau and Town of Plattsburgh Recreation Department will give a tennis clinic at Treadwills Mills Tennis Courts from 2:30 p.m. — 4 p.m. July 17. The clinic is suited to beginner tennis players, so no prior experience is necessary. Boys and Girls ages 7-15 are invited to attend. Tennis racquets and balls will be provided. Pre-Registration is required.

Dean Benson scholarships announced
PLATTSBURGH — The Family of the late Dean Benson, Sr. has announced the winners of the 2009 Dean Benson Memorial Scholarship Awards. The following Section 7 students/athletes will each receive $500:

These awards have been made possible by the generosity of businesses, friends and families from throughout the country not just locally, as well as proceeds from the seven golf tournaments held at the Adirondack Golf and Country Club in his memory. The family will fund six $500 awards next year. Applications for class of 2010 should be mailed by May 2010.
YMCA uphill bike race slated for July 11
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh YMCA's 5th annual "Tour de Rand Hill" uphill bike race will be Saturday, July 11. This is a 14-mile uphill ride. Registration forms are available at the YMCA. There will be free t-shirts for the first 25 entrants, and there are signups for the race division or fun division. Call 561-4290 for more information.

TICONDEROGA — The Ticonderoga Booster Club Hall of Fame Committe is pleased to announce that Andy Mattison (Class of 1999), Michelle DeFranco (Class of 1999), Todd Henthorn (Class of 1988) and in Memoriam of Duane Crammond (Class of 1999) will be inducted into the Ticonderoga Sentinel Booster Club Hall of Fame Friday, Sept. 25 during halftime of the Sentinel Homecoming Varsity Football Game vs. AuSable Valley.
Bowman bowls 716
PLATTSBURGH — Jonathon Bowman of Peru rolled his first ever 700 series. The 12-year-old rolled games of 214-256-246 for a 716 series. Bowman is currently averaging 201 in the Summer Fun (Adult/Youth) League at North Bowl Lanes.
