Keene girls top Crown Point

CROWN POINT — Jessica Caner netted the game-winner and an insurance goal to lift the Keene Central Beavers to a 3-1 triumph over the Crown Point Panthers Tuesday in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference girls' soccer.

After Crown Point's Chelsea Dushane tied the game 18:32 into the second half, Caner scored in the 32nd minute and again in the 34th. Amanda Boyle assisted on both.

Megan Hall had two saves for Keene, and Kayla Hebert scored in the first half.

Crown Point's Ashley Morgan stopped five shots.

CHAZY — Hannah Laurin made a big splash in her varsity debut as the Eagles opened with a win.

Laurin, an eighth-grader, scored three goals and assisted on another. Astrid Kempainen added a pair of goals and three assists, and Jori Cooper had a goal and two assists.

Kinnan Latremore, Christina Emery, Amber Polomski, and Megan Reynolds scored a goal apiece, and Latremore and Polomski both earned an assist.

Katharine Tooke made one save for Chazy, and Schroon Lake's Lindsay Reynolds had eight stops.

WILLSBORO — Shanna Brooks and Catherine Decker each netted two goals for the Lions.

Emily Morris chipped in a goal and an assist, and Kirsten Ashline also scored.

Elizabethtown-Lewis, helped by the strong play of sweeper Kylie Cassavaugh, held the Warriors to just one shot, and Jenny McGinn didn't have to make a save to earn the win.

Amanda Mahoney scored for Willsboro, and Morgan Jaquish and Courtney Blanchard combined for 12 saves.
