CANTON — Canton Central senior Jesse Miller has made his way back to the high school sports scene after suffering knee injuries in both 2008 and 2009 which required two surgeries.
Miller was given the opportunity Saturday to start his first football game in two years and took full advantage, rushing for 175 yards and three touchdowns as the Golden Bears cruised past Seton Catholic, 43-6, at Johnny Oliver Field.
Miller scored on runs of six and three yards in the first quarter and on another 6-yard rush in the second quarter as the Bears built a commanding 37-6 halftime lead.
Canton's sophomore quarterback Jay Proulx rushed four times for 46 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown scamper in the second quarter.
Also scoring for the Bears were Ryan Denny on an 8-yard run in the second quarter and fullback Victor Sanders (7-35) on a 6-yard rush in the fourth quarter. Canton outgained the Knights in total yardage by 345-90. Ryan Dean added five rushes for 49 yards.
