SARANAC LAKE — It was Senior Night for the North Country Community College men’s basketball team Tuesday, and the second-year players failed to disappoint.
Michael Boyea, Ian Henderson, Andrew Stone and Steve Carder combined for 85 of the team’s 102 points in a 30-point drubbing of Paul Smith’s College in NJCAA action.
“We got a chance to honor all six seniors, which was special,” Saints (17-9) coach Chad LaDue said. “Guys shared the basketball and played well. It was a great team effort and an enjoyable way to end the regular season.”
Henderson finished with a game-high 32 points, hitting eight of his 10 3-pointers in the second half.
Boyea collected a triple-double with 21 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds.
“(Boyea) was all over the place, which was nice,” LaDue said. “(Carder) finished with 12 rebounds, including his 26 points for a double-double. It was nice to see him excel in his last regular season home game with our program.”
Shiva Senthil fired a team-high 16 markers for the Bobcats (5-19) in the losing effort.
Alex Medina and Adam Klock added 14 points, respectively for Paul Smith’s.
North Country has earned itself a spot in the Region III Tournament at SUNY Delhi and will find out who it plays Sunday when the parings are released.
