Eagles sweep for boys; Knights, Hornets take two for girls

CADYVILLE — Sophomore Jeriqho Gadway of Plattsburgh continued the strong start to his season with a victory Wednesday in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys’ cross country.

Gadway finished in 16:29 as the Hornets defeated Northeastern Clinton, 17-46, but the day belonged to Beekmantown, which came away with three wins.

The Eagles defeated Seton Catholic (27-31), Plattsburgh (24-35) and the Cougars (17-46).

Beekmantown was paced by Colin Quackenbush, who finished fourth in a time of 17:37 Jonathan Graziane (17:37) and Jordan West (18:27) came in immediately behind Quackenbush for fifth and sixth place, respectively.

The Knights lone victory came against Northeastern Clinton (17-46). Mitchell Ryan (16:57) and Evan Page (17:23) took second and third, while Eick Ziemer (19:15) finished in eighth.

The Cougars were led by Anthony Piche (19:33), who came in 11th.

In the girls’ race, Seton Catholic and Plattsburgh each came away with victories over Beekmantown and Northeastern Clinton. The Eagles picked up a victory over the Cougars.

Margaret Champagne took first in the race for the Knights in a time of 20:11. Melissa Whyman (21:31) finished in third, while Maddy Munn (21:49) took fourth.

Northeastern Clinton’s Samantha Smith (20:34) captured second.

The rest of the top eight belonged to the Hornets.

Natalie Casey-Sanger (22:51) was fifth, followed by Claire Deshaies (23:14), Madelyn O’Connell (23:17) and Rayanne Canet (23:34).

Rachel Kashorek (24:36) led the way for Beekmantown, finishing 10th.
