10 YEARS AGO (2000)
Gayle Peryea scores 36 points in AuSable Valley's win over Tupper Lake while Laura Phillips nets 26 for PHS in a win over Saranac Lake.
Travis Belrose scores 20 points and grabs 13 rebounds to lead NAC to a 71-68, double-overtime victory over Ticonderoga. Aaron Boyea adds 19 with Matt Gowett chipping in with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Joe Defayette and Dan Michalak each tally 17 for the Sentinels.
Aaron Greene pours in 31 points as Lake Placid upends previously unbeaten Westport 79-75. Dan Broderick scores 29 in a losing cause.
Missy West nets 22, including 6 3-pointers, in Duke's victory over Wake Forest.
Angel Hayner scores 11 points and Erin Provost, 10, as Peru beats Seton Catholic, 47-38, ending the Knights' 12-game winning streak. Beth Barry scores 19 for Seton.
20 YEARS AGO (1990)
John Blades scores 15 points, Corey Cole, 14, and Adam Trina, 12, as Elizabethtown-Lewis edges Willsboro 66-63. John Cross leads the Warriors with 22 while Art Morgan nets 18.
Jill Wintermute scores 24 points to lead Willsboro to a 45-42 upset of Crown Point. Kim Clarke leads the Panthers with 26.
Ned Strong scores 13 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter as AuSable Valley rallies to defeat PHS 64-59. Mike Coolidge adds 15 points. Scott Cutaiar leads PHS with 18.
4-time champion Shawn Edwards and three-time champ Rob Bashaw lead Peru to its 19th invitational win in 21 years. Lonnie Rivers, Andy Duprey and Francis Brousseau also win for the Indians.
AuSable Valley's Barb Kevorkian is the lone triple-winner in the first CVAC indoor track & field meet. Kassy McIntyre, Kristy Allen, Brent Shook, Jamie Dumars and Andy Cheng all are double winners.
Maureen Kelly sinks a free throw with 12 seconds left as Ticonderoga rallies from 20 points down to beat Beekmantown 43-42.

Chris LaRose nets 27 points and grabs 12 rebounds while Steve Couture hits for 18 as Dannemora downs previously unbeaten Schroon Lake 72-68.
Dave Piromalli scores twice as Plattsburgh State thumps Oswego 9-1 before a Field House record crowd of 3,574.
Jon Mapstone scores 22 points and Charlie Mason, 15, as PHS tops Saranac 72-57 in a battle of unbeatens.
Lynn Foster, Jenette Jang, Rebecca Boyden and Erin Harrell lead the Skating Club of the Adirondacks to the team trophy in Potsdam.

Linda Ryan scores 14 points and gets 11 rebounds while Melanie Strack collects 11 caroms to lead Saranac over Moriah 41-43 in a meeting of CVAC division leaders. Ann Slattery scores 20 for the Vikings.
Mary Stanley collects 23 points and 20 rebounds as Crown Point beats Willsboro 54-39 in a battle of unbeatens. Kim Wintermute leads Willsboro with 15.
Mike Northrup and Eric Sarnow lead AuSable Valley to a 97-70 win over Moriah in swimming. Tony Martin is the Vikings' top swimmer.
40 YEARS AGO (1970)
Al Beebie scores 21 points as Moriah tops defending Class A champ Peru 89-69. Pete Neyenhouse leads Peru with 18.
Heavyweight Dan LaClair's pin sends Ellenburg on to a 27-19 win over Beekmantown in wrestling while Saranac beats PHS 35-20, helped by Ron LeClair's 2-2 tie with Hornet ace Jeff LaChappelle at 123 pounds.
Tom Clark scores 20 points to lead Plattsburgh State to a 78-62 win over Potsdam.
Charlie Shatraw nets 41 to lead Ellenburg over Lyon Mountain 96-88.

Bob Baker posts a 1,992 score to win all events in the annual City Bowling Association Tournament at Nash Alleys.
Gary O'Leary's desperation shot at the buzzer gives St. John's a 44-43 win over MAI.

Oscar Dignard of Montcalm St. lands a 11½-pound great northern pike on smelt tackle while fishing at Gravelly Point.
Homer Lemieux, Carriere and Foley score goals for MAI in a 3-1 hockey win over Saranac Lake. Pearson gets the Red & White goal.
Dragoon scores 11 points to lead MAI past Port Henry 27-26. Harold Butterfield and Willy Dupuis each score 7 for the Porters.
Savage fires in 20 points and Bright, 11, as Peru defeats Ellenburg 40-19. Blair leads Ellenburg with 8.
