Peru pee-wee tourney Saturday
PERU — The annual Jon Evans Pee Wee Wrestling Tournament will take place Saturday at Peru High School with the competition open to ages 5-14. Weigh-ins will be from 8-9 a.m. with wrestling to follow.
Entry fee is $12 with a $2 admission charge. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each weight class and medals to the fourth-place finisher.

Placid girls finish second
LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid U12 Hockey Lady Blue Bombers took second place at the Tier II New York State Championships.
They advanced to the final by beating Clifton Park, 5-1; tieing Brewster, 0-0, beating Niagara, 1-0, and Potsdam, 4-3, in a shootout. Brewster defeated Lake Placid 3-0 for the championship.
NAC sets spring sports meeting
ELLENBURG CENTER — Northern Adirondack will hold a spring sports informational meeting Tuesday, March 23, at 6 p.m., in the high-school auditorium. All coaches, parents and athletes must attend.
Jr Cards enter state tourney
PLATTSBURGH — The Jr Cards will head to Binghamton this weekend to participate in the Tier II squirt hockey New York State Championships.
Members of the team include Gavin Giroux, Chase Bedore, Ian Urquhart, Brendan Whalen, Kurtis Olsen, Joshua McCauley, Kade Collins, Luke Carpenter, Christian Thomas, JB Chapin, Paul Fine-Lease and Cole Harvey. The players come from area youth hockey organizations including Plattsburgh, Lake Placid, Chazy, Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake.
The Jr Cardinals are a first year organization and are 47-4-3.
Officials needed for tourney

Bessette-Agnew first in archery
ALDEN — A Plattsburgh teen captured top honors at the New York State Archery Association (NYSAA) 2010 Indoor Championships held recently in Alden and Queens.
Brandon Bessette-Agnew, 16, shot in Alden, scoring a 577 out of 600 to win the Cadet Compound Division. He is sponsored by Martin Archery and was shooting for Adirondack Archery, a local shop in Saranac.
Bessette-Agnew will compete in the Halls New England Indoor Archery Tournament in Manchester, Conn. March 21, with the rest of the advanced road team from the Vermont Junior Archers (his JOAD affiliate).
Soccer United meeting set
PLATTSBURGH — Soccer United will hold a meeting Sunday, March 21, from 11 a.m.-noon, at the Crete Memorial Civic Center for girls and boys ages 8-14 interested in playing outdoor soccer from mid April until July 11. There will be U10 and U12 travel teams both boys and girls.
All current and new players need to attend. Final paper work and information will be collected at this time. Each player needs to bring copy of birth certificate, passport-size photo, medical information and any other information they feel neccesary.

Lakers' AAU sign-up Sunday
PLATTSBURGH — The Lake Champlain Lakers AAU basketball program will hold registration on Sunday at Seton Catholic from 2-4 p.m. The Lakers' program runs from March through the end of June.
This year's program will begin with a camp format starting March 20 and will continue with the travel portion from April 26 through the end of June. All interested boys and girls ages 9-17 can sign up at this time.

Bowmans, Brunet roll 700s
PLATTSBURGH — Brothers Jonathan and David Bowman, along with A.J. Brunet, tossed 700 series this past weekend in the North Bowl Junior-Major-Senior Youth Scholarship League.
Jonathan Bowman, a seventh-grader, rolled a 233-237-279-749 triple, while David Bowman finished with a 237-237-267-741 set, and Brunet, a 255-224-257-736.
Bowl Mart 9-pin event tonight
CHAMPLAIN — Bowl Mart Lanes will host a 9-Pin Doubles Tournament tonight, starting at 7:30. Participants will bowl four games with a handicap based on 80 percent of 210.
Bowlers will use last year's average, or 170 for women, or 190 for men.
Strike options will be available.
