OGDENSBURG -- The Ogdensburg Blue Devils scored twice on big plays and went on to defeat the Saranac Lake Redskins 22-0 in battle of unbeatens in Northern Football Conference play.
The victory enabled Ogdensburg (6-0, 3-0) to clinch the Class C regular-season championship and the top seed for the playoffs. Saranac Lake drops to 5-1, 2-1 in the division.
Senior halfback Tylor Stevenson had a pair of second-quarter touchdowns for the Blue Devils, crashing into the end zone from six yards out and then zigzagging from sideline to sideline behind three textbook open-field blocks to score on a 75-yard punt return.
Zach Giglio, who converted both point-after kicks, then accounted for the only touchdown of the second half by catching a 65-yard scoring strike from Jarred Morrow early in the third quarter. Morrow then found Jorden Brashaw in the front of the end zone for the two-point conversion.
Brandon Patraw rushed for 66 yards to lead Saranac Lake. He was 4 of 9 passing for 41 yards.
Saranac Lake will host arch-rival Tupper Lake next Saturday.
