PLATTSBURGH -- Plattsburgh State men's hockey coach Bob Emery is looking at Saturday's Annual Red/White Game in a different light this season.
The contest is set for 7 p.m. at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse's Stafford Ice Arena.
"We're taking a different approach to the game this year," Emery said.
"We don't have any exhibition or non-league games before the regular schedule starts. We jump right into our schedule next weekend against Morrisville.
"So, our own coaches will do the coaching Saturday and it will be a more serious atmosphere. It will be a game-like situation and we'll then make final decisions on who will go on to play on Friday."
As was also the case last season, the Cardinals have brought in a large number of newcomers.
"We have a lot of new players, including two goaltenders," Emery said.
"We have no superstars on the team and nobody is a lock for playing time. It will come down to who wants it the most and how badly they want it."
The Cardinals open their 2007-08 season next Friday and Saturday with State University of New York Athletic Conference games against Morrisville State, at 7 p.m. both nights.
Below is a list of the 10 freshmen who are new to the hockey program at Plattsburgh State.
