INDIANAPOLIS -- Bruce Delventhal, the director of athletics at Plattsburgh State, has been named to the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Committee, effective immediately. He will serve a four-year term through the 2010-11 season.
Delventhal joins committee members Steven Nelson (Athletics Director at Wisconsin- Superior), Allan MacCormack (Athletics Administrator at Lebanon Valley College), Michael McShane (Head Hockey Coach at Norwich University) and Mark Ostapina (Head Hockey Coach at Milwaukee School of Engineering) in the selection of the NCAA tournament field and championship administration of the sport.
"I feel fortunate to have been asked to serve on this committee. I have worked with the NCAA throughout the years in different areas, but this will be the first time that I will serve on one of the organization's committees in an official capacity," Delventhal said. "I also feel that this appointment is a sign of the respect the NCAA has for SUNY Plattsburgh and the institution's entire athletic program."
Delventhal has worked for the American Hockey Coaches' Association since 1988 as secretary/treasurer. He is also a member of the board of Hockey Coaches Care, a non-profit charitable organization which raises money to help people in need at all levels of the hockey community.
