LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Twenty-year-old Brianne Goutal of New York City has become the youngest rider ever to win the $75,000 RV Sales of Broward Grandprix of Lake Placid.
Goutal rode Ralvesther to a fault-free finish in 40.70 seconds in the event Sunday at the Lake Placid Horse Show.
Only five of the initial 28 competitors reached a tiebreaking jump-off by riding fault-free over the 17-jump first-round course. They returned for the eight-jump tiebreaker course.
Christine McCrea of East Windsor, Conn., took second place with a fault-free ride in 42.72 seconds on Romantovich Take One.
Lou Jacobs of East Aurora, N.Y., rode Kachina to a four-fault ride in 42.99 seconds to take third place.
Goutal is a sophomore at Brown University.
