WESTPORT — The Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference experienced a first this basketball season — sisters sharing most valuable player honors.
Martha and Willa McKinley, who led the Westport Eagles to a 20-1 season, were named MVPs in Division II of MVAC girls' basketball. They were joined by teammates Kalika Hopkins and Christina Sherman on the Div. II All-Star team.
Schroon Lake's Jocelyn Bowen, who led the MVAC in scoring averaging 16.8 points per game, was chosen MVP of Div. I while Indian Lake/Long Lake standout Carli Reynolds earned MVP honors for Div. III after scoring 14.8 a game for the Orange.
There also was a tie for MVP in Div. II boys' basketball with Westport's Nathan Gay and Crown Point's John Budwick sharing the honor.
Willsboro's Lucas Strong earned the top nod in Div. I while Kris Bain of Indian Lake/Long Lake claimed the MVP for Div. III.
