Beartown to open this weekend
BEEKMANTOWN -- Beartown Ski Area will be open today and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., pending weather conditions.
Bass Club to meet Saturday afternoon
PLATTSBURGH -- The Plattsburgh Bass Club will meet Saturday, from 1-3 p.m., at Gander Mountain. New members are welcome.

Malone softball meeting set for Monday
MALONE -- The Malone AmVets Softball League will meet Monday, at 6:30 p.m., at the AmVets clubhouse. All teams entering must have a representative attend.
Run for Hope scheduled for Saturday
ELIZABETHTOWN -- The Run for Hope will take place Saturday in Essex County. The Run for Hope is in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and includes two races.
The half-marathon will be from Keene to Elizabethtown with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Elm Tree inn in Keene. Race time is at 9.
The 5K race will be at the Elizabethtown-Lewis school with registration at 9 a.m. The race will begin at 9:30.
There will be a buffet after the race in the ELCS cafeteria.
Beartown to hold annual meeting April 7
BEEKMANTOWN -- The annual meeting of the Beartown Ski Area will be held Monday, April 7 at the ski lodge. The meeting will start with a pot-luck dinner at 6:30 p.m., followed by the business meeting.
All directors, season pass holders, and other members
in good standing are invited to attend.
Keeseville softball meeting March 29
KEESEVILLE -- The Keeseville Medium Pitch Men's Softball League will hold its first meeting March 28, at 7 p.m., at the VFW in Keeseville. Any teams interested in playing this year should be represented. If you cannot attend the meeting, call 963-4166 with questions or to join the league.
New teams are welcome. If you do not have a team to play on and are interested in playing, come to the meeting or call 963-4166.
Anson memorial tourney March 29-30
PORT HENRY -- The Annual Doug Anson Memorial Basketball Tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30 at Moriah Central School. This is a double-elimination men's open event, with a $225 team entry fee.

Whiteface plans Easter celebration
WILMINGTON -- Whiteface will celebrate Easter Sunday, March 23, with an Easter service, breakfast buffet, and Easter Egg Hunt.
The non-denominational Easter service will begin at 8 a.m. in the Ausable Room, followed by a breakfast buffet from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Lookout Café. The buffet will include eggs Benedict, sweet potato pancakes, sausage frittata, fresh fruit, Belgium waffles, hand-carved wood-smoked ham, and more. Cost is $14.95 for adults and $11.95 for seniors. Children 12 and under will be $6.95.
The Whiteface Easter Egg Hunt will be located outside of the Main Base Lodge and begin at 11 a.m. More than 2,000 eggs will be scattered at Whiteface with the Golden Egg containing the special prize of a free junior (7-12) season pass for the 2008-09 ski and ride season.
For children 6 and under, the Silver Egg features a prize just for them. Kids will be separated into age groups -- 6 and under and 7-12. The 6 and under group will be on Mixing Bowl, while children 7-12 on foot will be at the base of Boreen. Skiers and riders 7-12 will be on Boreen.
For non-skiers and riders, scenic Cloudsplitter Gondola rides will be offered for just $10 per person from 8:30 am -- 3 p.m.
