Senior hoop contest set for tonight


PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Valley Athletic Conference 2008-2009 exceptional senior games will take place tonight at Seton Catholic.

The girls' contest will start at 6 p.m. with Roger Long of AuSable Valley, and Frank Johns of Lake Placid as the Home team coaches. Emily Fessette, and Meg LaValley, Beekmantown; Trista Harris, Renee Egan, Seton Catholic; Emily Higgins, Lauren Grady, Plattsburgh High; Arielle Retrosi, Lake Placid; Kaitlyn Myers, Kelsey Newell, and Carissa Fournia, Saranac; and Hannah Charette of Northern Adirondack will combine to make the home team.

The away team will be coached by Greg Waters of Beekmantown, and Steve Pelkey of Moriah. Ariel Masten, Brigid Murnane of Seton Catholic; Kara Hackett, Jessica Ewald, Peru; Julie Thompson, Carly Tubbs, Ticonderoga; Kayleena McDonough, Saranac Lake; Zoe Saulsgiver, Jessie Walton, AuSable Valley; and Kaycee Kolodzey, Jen Tesar of Moriah will make up the visiting squad.

The boys' game will follow at 7:30 p.m. with White vs. Dark.

The White team will be coached by Larry Converse of Seton Catholic, and Ryan Converse of Beekmantown. Kasey Lamberton, Northeastern Clinton; Alex Fregeau, Seton Catholic; Garrett Shepler, Beekmantown; Matt Hamilton, Ryan Murphy, AuSable Valley; Tyler Smith, Northern Adirondack; Dustin Gratto, Ben Depo, Saranac; Jake Kelly, Ticonderoga; Tyler Blaise, Jim Carlson, Moriah, and James Kordziel, Lake Placid will make up the white team.

The Dark team will be coached by Don Carlisto of Saranac Lake, and Jamie Douglass of AuSable Valley. Matt Farbotko, Northeastern Clinton; Tanner LeCuyer, Kyle Kirby, Seton Catholic; Rickie Lee, AuSable Valley; Kyle Kirk, Plattsburgh High; Pete Patterson, Northern Adirondack; Jason Lavarnway, Cody Wood, Saranac; Jake Taylor, Josh Demarais, Ticonderoga; Tyson Fernandez, Moriah, and Justin Murphy, Peru will be the Dark team.

There will also be a 3-point contest for the girls and a boys and a dunk competition for the boys.

Higgins, Myers, Newell, and Fournia will all take part in the girls' 3-point contest, while Smith, Patterson, Wood, Demarais, Fernandez, and Carlson will shoot for the boys.

Farbotko, Kirby, Patterson, Kelly, and Carlson will be the five players in the dunk competition.

Between the girls' and boys' games, the 2008-2009 CVAC Boys and Girls All-Stars will be announced.
