CANTON — The Franklin Academy Huskies of Malone continued their stellar season in indoor track Saturday with a sweep of the 17-team Northern Athletic Conference Invitational at St. Lawrence University.
The Huskies won the boys' meet by 12½ points over South Jefferson with Ticonderoga, third, just 14 points off the pace. The Malone girls won by 26 points.
Freshmen Kylee Disotelle, Justina Cositore, Lindsay LaPage and Jacqueline Whitman and senior Kaitin Sexton all turned in personal-bests to lead the Malone girls.
Justin Marlow set a school record of 8.2 seconds for the 55-meter hurdles to lead the Malone boys. Marlow also teamed with Nick Hyde, Derek Hanna and Zach Leffler to set a school record for the 800-meter relay with a 1:37.7. The foursome tied the old record last week with a 1:38.3.
Saranac's Nate Williams swept the 55- and 300-meter dashes while Ticonderoga's Dustin Scott claimed the triple and high jumps. Seton Catholic won the 3,200-meter relay.
Seton Catholic's Genna Hartung led the 3,200-meter relay team to victory and then won a stirring battle with Canton's Stephanie Goobic in the 1,000 meters.
Ticonderoga's Lexi Reale won the 55-meter deash while Peru seventh-grader Ashley Leta captured the 600-meter dash.
Beekmantown's Brendan Courneene, with a time of 2:42.3, Courneene broke a 20-year-old Beekmantown school record for the boys' 1,000 meters.
