Don’t state as a fact something that is unsubstantiated or that our editors wouldn't know to be true.

Don’t presume someone’s guilt in a case when it hasn't been established by a court.

Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

We monitor comments Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Approval of comments outside these times may be delayed.

Winterfest curling schedule

PLATTSBURGH — The schedule has been released for the curling competition at the 2012 Winterfest held at American Legion Post 1619 for Friday, Feb. 3. All teams are asked to be on the rink a half hour before their match. There are no grace periods. For additional information or questions, call 561-8706.

Stick-n-puck on Sunday

PLATTSBURGH — Ameri-Can North Sports Center is holding stick-n-puck from 1 to 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5.

Saturday's sectional bowling match $5

PLATTSBURGH — Admission for the high school sectional bowling match on Saturday, Feb. 4, at North Bowl Lanes will be $5 per person with no exceptions.

This admission fee is not CVAC or facilities related.

Bowl Mart tourney on Saturday

ROUSES POINT — Bowl Mart Lanes is hosting a tournament on Saturday, starting at 7:30 p.m. Games will consist of a regular game, 9-pin, Baker's double and Scotts double. There will be a "Buy a Strike" option.

If a bowler has no current average, men will use 180 and women will use 140. For more information, call Bowl Mart Lanes, at 297-6106.

Willsboro rugby registration Feb. 9

WILLSBORO — Registration for the Willsboro Chapter of the Adirondack Barkeaters U19 Boys and Girls Rugby Football Club will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Willsboro Visitor's Center on Route 22 in Willsboro.

No experience is necessary. All area (Champlain to Moriah) teenage boys and girls are eligible.
