Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

AuSable Valley gets swimming victory

CLINTONVILLE — AuSable Valley spread the victories around on Friday in its 112-58 win over Peru in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference swimming.

Sierra Cotrona, Alexis Provost, Alexis Factreau and Sidney Murphy each captured three wins on the evening.

Cotrona took first individually in the 200 freestyle (2:12.19) and the 100 butterfly (1:12.61). Provost won the 100 freestyle (1:03.05), Facteau captured first in the 50 freestyle (28.19), and Murphy was first in the 100 breaststroke (1:27.98). Cotrona, Murphy, Provost and Tonie Cross teamed to win the 200 medley relay (2:13.43). Facteau, Provost, Raychel Agoney and Emily McCormick captured the 400 freestyle relay (4:24.49) while Cross, Murphy, Agoney and Facteau were first in the 200 freestyle relay (2:01.84).

Mary Barkla paced the Indians with victories in the 200 IM (2:43.82) and the 100 backstroke (1:11.84). Paige Vaccaro added a win in the 500 freestyle (6:16.43).

PLATTSBURGH — Taylor Hall won four events to lead the Hornets over the Vikings.

Hall won the 200 IM (2:40.92) and the 500 freestyle (6:17.50). She also teamed up with Kelsey Primard, Cara Sorensen and Amanda Leonard in the 200 medley relay victory (2:10.94) and the 400 freestyle relay (4:20.45).

Alexis Kelley won the 200 freestyle (2:13.22) and the 100 freestyle (1:00.29) while Brooke Kelley captured the 100 backstroke (1:15.51) and the 50 freestyle (28.65) for Plattsburgh.

Emily Simard led the way for Moriah with a second place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:23.31) while Brooke Dever took second in the 100 backstroke (1:17.75).
