Kelley, Sorensen lead PHS to victory

PLATTSBURGH — Alexis Kelley and Cara Sorensen grabbed a quartet of wins apiece on Tuesday as Plattsburgh swam past AuSable Valley, 115-55, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference swimming.

Kelley captured wins in the 200 IM (2:24.61) and the 100 backstroke (1:09.41). She also teamed with Sorensen, Brin Keyser and Kelsey Primard in the 200 freestyle relay (1:53.17), and with Primard, Keyser and Taylor Hall in the 400 freestyle relay (4:17.90).

Sorensen had victories in the 100 freestyle (1:00.29) and the 50 freestyle (26.73). She also contributed to the 200 medley relay team (2:09.54) with Hall, Primard and Brooke Kelley.

The Patriots were paced by Sierra Cotrona, who captured second place in both the 200 IM (2:27.75) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.61).

Peru 109 Moriah 57

MORIAH — Paige Vaccaro led a very balanced Indians squad with three victories in their win over the Vikings.

Vaccaro took first place in the 200 IM (2:52.17) and the 100 breaststroke (1:30.23). She was also part of the 200 medley relay (2:33.37) with Carah Powell, Kali Dorey and Rebecca Brown.

Brown and Powell chipped in with a pair of wins each for Peru.

Powell finished first in the 100 freestyle (1:13.37) while Brown won the 100 butterfly (1:23.36).

Emily Simard and Brooke Dever paced Moriah with two wins apiece.

Simard and Dever each took part in the 400 freestyle relay (5:14.61) with teammates Celena Madill and Ashley Shores.

Simard captured first in the 200 freestyle (2:36.69) and Dever touched first in the 50 freestyle (0:30.53).

Freshman Carolyn Simard has also been making huge strides this season, according to her coach Angie Childs.
