Bowl-A-Thon
set for today
PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Cancer Fund will hold its First Annual Bowl-A-Thon today. 64 teams will help raise money for our local fund. 64 teams will compete, with the first shift starting at 1 p.m. and the second shift starting at 3 p.m.
All teams are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your starting time to register and turn in your sponsorship money.
There will be raffles all day along with drink specials. The following are the lane assignments for both shifts.

Cole to Appear at Coaches Corner
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh State athletics department, in conjunction with the Ground Round Grill & Bar, will be hosting its third Coaches Corner event on Wednesday, Feb. 13. The event is free and open to the public.
From 5 to 7 p.m., Plattsburgh State women’s basketball coach Cheryl Cole will be on hand at the Ground Round to mingle with fans and answer questions about the 2012-13 season.

Lacrosse skills clinic set for Feb. 19, 21
PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh Lacrosse Club along with the Plattsburgh State men’s lacrosse team, will be hosting a lacrosse skills clinic for kids of all abilities, from the experienced player to the new player curious about the sport.
There will be some equipment available for players to try their hand at the sport. The clinic will take place indoors on Feb. 19 and 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the Crete Center. The cost will be $20 for both sessions.

ADK schedules
outings
PLATTSBURGH — On Wednesday, the public is invited to join the Algonquin Chapter of the ADK for their Wednesday Walk About Town. Meet at 3 p.m. on the steps of City Hall neighborhood.
Also, on Wednesday, the guided tour of the New Land Trust in Saranac will continue. Ski, snowshoe or hiking will occur, depending on conditions, for approximately two hours. Meet at the club house at 10 a.m. Call Jim King for details at 310-1164. The tours will continue until March 6.
Decker, Garrand
NJCAA athletes
of the week
PLATTSBURGH — Freshman Jessica Decker helped the Clinton Community College women’s basketball team to wins over Schenectady and Mohawk Valley with a combined 21 points and 21 rebounds.
Decker, a Peru graduate, was chosen the NJCAA Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 21. Garrand, a sophomore, helped the Cougars to a 2-1 record en route to winning the same award for the week ending Jan. 28.
The former Northeastern Clinton had a career high 33 points, five rebounds, five steals and one blocked shot against Hudson Valley. She then led Clinton to a hard-fought win over Fulton-Montgomery with 14 points, five assists and four steals. Garrand concluded the week leading her team to an overtime win over SUNY Delhi with eight assists.
“What a great honor for these two local athletes,” coach Donna Dixon said. “They both work so hard and are deserving of this recognition.”
