You can look back over the last 70 years at some of the area athletes and personalities who made headlines in area sports. Flashback will revive memories of great local athletes and outstanding team successes.

Junior Cardinal Pee wees win 2 games
GLENS FALLS — The Plattsburgh Junior Cardinal Pee wees were busy last weekend, winning two of three games to improve their record to 26-6-4.

T.J. Oricchio scored one goal and added two assists to lead the Cardinals to a 5-1 win over the Adirondack Phantoms. Kyle Constanty and Michael Stetz each picked up a goal and an assist with Chase Dixon and Ryan Whalen rounding out the scoring for the Cardinals. Tristian Archambault, J.D. Side and Colin Giroux picked up assists while Giancarlo Ventre was in net for the Cardinals who outshot their opponents 36-16. Oricchio, Constanty, Stetz and Whalen all played well for the Jr. Cards.

Sunday afternoon, The Junior Cards nipped the CBS Hawks of Vermont 2-1. The Cardinals, down 1-0 in the third period, tied the game when Chase Dixon scored on a beautiful pass from Jaylen LaBoy. J.D. Side's winning goal came with just 3:52 left in the game, and was assisted by Harry Jacobs. Bailey Conklin and Colin Giroux played well offensively and Andrew Bechard and Tristian Archambeault had strong games on defense for the Cards. Jonathan Plessis-Belair was steady between the pipes for the Cardinals, who outshot the Hawks 19-11.

In the second game Sunday evening, a determined Adirondack Phantom team blanked the Jr. Cards 3-0. Giancarlo Ventre was in goal for the Cardinals and faced 14 shots, making 11 saves.



Mountain Lions to meet tonight
SARANAC — The Mountain Lions Snowmobile Club will meet today at 7 p.m. at the Saranac Town Hall. All are welcome.

Saranac Pee wee wrestling begins today
SARANAC — The Saranac Pee Wee Wrestling Program will get under way tonight with the first session scheduled from 5:45-7 p.m. in the Saranac Elementary School gymnasium. All students in the Saranac school district are eligible.

Jonathan Bowman rolls 700 series
PLATTSBURGH — Peru seventh-grader Jonathan Bowman bowled his first-ever 700 series in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference competition Monday when he rolled a 220-223-264-707 against Beekmantown at North Bowl Lanes. The Peru boys have a 95-65 record this season.
