Hammond stuns Chateaugay with big comeback

CANTON — Alyssa Crosby scored 20 points in the fourth quarter as No. 3 seed Hammond rallied from a 25-point halftime deficit to stun No. 2 seed Chateaugay, 59-56, in a Section X Class D girls' basketball semifinal Tuesday at SUNY Canton.

Crosby finished with 35 points. Hammond trailed, 43-18, at the half and was still down by 17 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Red Devils outscored Chateaugay 41-13 in the second half.

Makayla Fleury led the Bulldogs with 14 points. Alexis Beach and Courtney Boyea both scored 12, and Hannah Cook added 10.

Chateaugay, which opened with a 24-6 advantage in the first quarter, eventually got into foul trouble and had three players foul out.
