Peru athletes compete in Hispanic Games

NEW YORK — Members of the Peru High School track team participated in their first invitational of the season at the 18th-Annual Hispanic Games, sponsored by the Navy at The Armory, last weekend.

High school athletes from throughout the northeast and New York City competed in the two-day event.

Peru senior Dan Lennon finished second overall in the varsity boys' seeded two-mile event with a time of 9:21.73. There were 18 entries.

Senior Shawn Hendrix competed in the triple jump while making the finals and recording a leap of 44' 6.5" to place fifth out of 37 competitors.

Ashley Leta ran in the varsity girls' seeded 800-meter race with a time of 2:20.60. The sophomore placed sixth overall with 183 runners contending.

Freshman Cheyanne Dobozy competed in the varsity girls' mile, placing 145th out of 244 runners with a time of 6:10.32.
