ROUSES POINT — Ed Davis defended his Corona Championship title Sunday by defeating runner-up Chad Welch by three strokes in the Pro Group at the North Country Golf Club.
Davis, following a 70 on Saturday, carded a 77 on Sunday for a two-day total of 147, while Welch, who trailed Davis by one stroke entering Sunday, ended up with a 71-79-150.
Dustin Beauregard took third place with a 76-75-151, Jason Walker fourth with a 76-76-152 and Barton VanLeuvan fifth with a 77-77-154. Beauregard’s 75 on Sunday was the low round of the day.
In the Nicklaus Group, Claude Poitras was the winner with a 81-82-163, two strokes better than Mike Phillips, who carded a 82-83-165. Poitras had the low round both days of the event.
In the Palmer Group, Robert Barnes also had the low round both days as he finished with a 83-81-164 to defeat Dick Cole, who ended up with a 85-82-167 by three strokes.
