Peru looks to defend Section VII title

PERU — Peru will have nine top seeds out of the 15 weight classes today while being the favorite to defend its Section VII Wrestling Championship.

Ethan Feazelle (99), Kyler Agoney (106), Max Marte (113), Jordan Bushey (126), Jacob Goddeau (132), Nick Forget (138), Noah Phillips (145), Troy Seymour (170) and Luke McKee (220) are seeded first for the host Indians.

Peru will be looking for its second title of the year after winning the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference crown with an 8-0 record.

Goddeau (34-0), a three-time sectional champion, Phillips (37-0) and Seymour (36-0), a two-time sectional champion, are currently unbeaten on the season.

Northern Adirondack is next with three top seeds.

They include Jackson Sunderland (152), Justin Kellett (160), a returning sectional champion with only one loss this year, and Garrett Gero (182).

Codie Gillette (120) and Ben Perry (195), a returning sectional champion who is undefeated this year with a 29-0 record, represent Saranac as top seeds.

Two-time sectional champion Hayden Head (285), who has compiled a 35-2 record this season, is the remaining top seed from Beekmantown.

Weigh-ins today will be held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

The opening round will begin on one mat at 10 a.m. and the semifinals at 11 a.m. on two mats.

Wrestle-backs and consolation finals for third and fourth place will start at 12:30 p.m., with the championship matches beginning at 2 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults all day, $5 for students all day and $5 for adults and students for the final matches only.
