Bobcats win wrestling tournament

JERICHO, Vt. — Northern Adirondack took first in the Jason Lowell Memorial Tournament held at Mount Mansfield Union High School over the weekend.

The Bobcats finished with 218 points, with host Mount Mansfield coming in second with 116 points.

Hunter Carpenter (145) and Justin Kellett (160) led Northern Adirondack by winning their respective weight classes. Scott Kellett (120), Matt Carter (126), Kaleb Sample (132) and Russell Noel (195) finished in second place for weight class, while Rusty Pombrio (106), Brandon Edwards (113), Matt Lashway (182) and Dallas Page (220) took third.

There were 16 teams represented at the tournament.

Peru

The Indians sent five wrestlers to the event and three of those were unbeaten.

Jacob Goddeau finished at 3-0 with two technical falls and a major decision at 132, Nick Forget 3-0 with two pins and a decision at 138, Troy Seymour 4-0 with three pins and a decision at 170.

Max Marte recorded a 2-1 record with a pin and technical fall at 113, while Caleb Feazelle compiled a 2-2 mark at 160.

AuSable Valley

Matt LaMare, wrestling at 182, recorded a 2-2 record to lead the way for the Patriots.

Dan Papa (120), Kodie Simpson (160) and Collin Fuller (195) all went 1-2 on the day, while Dylan Baker (106), Keith Christensen (152) and Dustin Drake (220) were 0-2.
