Don’t assail or impugn an identifiable individual or group. If you have that kind of criticism, sign your name and submit it as a Letter to the Editor. (There is some leeway on this in connection with public officials, but it is not unconditional.)

Don’t use profanity. This includes the term “tea bagger.”

Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Remember, moderators are not allowed to edit any article comments. If an article comment fails any of the above criteria, the entire comment will be deleted.

Kemp leads Huskies in pool

POTSDAM — Emily Kemp won the 100-yard butterfly and placed second in the 200 individual medley to lead Malone's Franklin Academy at the Section X girls' swimming championships Saturday at Potsdam State.

The Huskies placed fifth with 119 points. Massena (292) won the team championship, 14 points ahead of Canton.

Kemp swam the 100 fly in 1 minute, 8.56 seconds to beat out Ogdensburg Free Academy's Susie Morrow for the title. The junior clocked 2:33.68 in the IM, with Massena's Britney Wells winning in 2:33.20.

Kemp also helped Franklin Academy place fourth in the 200 freestyle relay (along with Natasha Poupore, Emily Marshall and Mackenzie Wilson) and fifth in the 400 free relay (with Sarah Reynolds, Mackenzie Spillane and Wilson).

Wilson, a sophomore, took sixth in the 50 freestyle (28.51) and seventh in the 100 free (1:02.15).
