Don’t be incendiary or tasteless. Those qualities are subjective, of course, and our editors will be the arbiters.

Do not identify yourself in the main content area of the article content form. Only by enforcing this rule can the moderators prevent unscrupulous commenters from falsely identifying themselves as someone they are not.

Don't type in all caps. It is considered the Internet equivalent of shouting.

In sports articles, do not criticize officiating.

Tupper Lake boys also win Section X cross country title

CANTON — Led by Connor Gordon, the Franklin Academy boys took nine of the top 10 spots in Class B to claim the team title during the Section X Cross Country Championships Thursday at Canton High School.

Gordon was the fastest runner of the day, clocking 15 minutes, 58.50 seconds. Teammates Morgan Marlow, Corey Lamere, Rourk Marlow and Doug Fitzgerald rounded out the top five.

The Huskies beat out Ogdensburg Free Academy, 15-49.

In Class D, Bryan Geiger notched a third-place finish to help Tupper Lake win the team championship. Geiger ran a 17:55.20. Randy Charland placed fifth for the Lumberjacks, and Broyce Guerette finished seventh.

Tupper Lake had 38 points to edge Norwood-Norfolk (41) and Brushton-Moira (44). Josh Eng of Norwood-Norfolk placed first in Class D in a time of 17:06.40, and Brushton-Moira's Chaz Blair was second in 17:29.10.

In the girls' competition, Franklin Academy finished second behind Canton in Class B, with Rebekkah Bond turning in a second-place showing for the Huskies in 19:04.70. Franklin Academy's Morgan Bronner (eighth) and Carrie Pomainville (10th) also had strong finishes. Canton's Laura Pierce crossed the line first in 18:27.70.

Gretchen O'Leary paced Tupper Lake in Class D with a time of 20:47.40, good for fourth. Hannah Klossner wasn't far behind in sixth, and Ari Bishop placed seventh.

Norwood-Norfolk won the title, followed by Brushton-Moira and Tupper Lake. The Flyers' Kaycie Saucier was the fastest individual in 19:28.8, while the Panthers' Brandy Allen finished second (20:33.30) and teammates Veronica Stauffer and Carly Taylor also made the top 10.
