Kevin Menard gets hole-in-one

PLATTSBURGH -- Kevin Menard of Casella Waste Team recorded his first hole-in-one during the 13th-Annual Naked Turtle/Make-A-Wish Foundation Golf Tournament held July 14 at Bluff Point Golf Resort. He used a 9 iron on the 127-yard, par-3 ninth hole.

Ethan Votraw and Cheryl Reynolds won the longest drive competition.

Dannemora league in playoffs

PLATTSBURGH -- The Dannemora Fun Golf League will hold its playoffs Aug. 19 at Bluff Point Golf Resort with the annual awards dinner to follow at the American Legion Post 20 home on the Quarry Road.

Vern Malark and Bill Siskavich will take on Marv Weaver and Frank Woodward for first place with Wayne Marshall and Dick Becker playing Vince Lennon and Bernie Lamora for third. The battle for fifth will pit Bob Blair and Fred Blair against Bill Fornecker and Larry Blair while Gib LaRose and Gerry King will play either Billy Siskavich and Chuck Wood or Steve and Ed Liberty for seventh place.

Teams not involved in the playoff can make up their own foursomes.

St. Peter's tourney Thursday

PERU -- The 15th-Annual St.Peter's Invitational golf tournament will be held Thursday at Adirondack Golf & Country Club with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

The putting contest, registration and raffles will begin at 11:30 a.m. Golfers are reminded that a large bike tour may slow traffic on Route 9 and that participants should plan accordingly.

AMC Foundation holds tourney

SARANAC LAKE -- The Adirondack Medical Center Foundation held its 15th-Annual Golf Tournament on July 30 at the Lake Placid Club Mountain Course.

Prior to the tournament, Larry Maxwell and his team, Max's Marauders, dedicated their game to Casey McHugh, who died unexpectedly earlier this year. Casey is the son of Kathy McHugh, who works for the AMC Foundation.

Maxwell, Don Mortinson, Mike Keniston and Andy Donatello shot a 56 to take first place in Flight 1. First place in Flight 2 went to the CVPH team of Mike Hildrebran, Gary King, Matt Arless and Chris Booth with a 64. First place in Flight 3 went to the team sponsored by Dr. Richard Moccia, Rhett Colby, Mike Smith, Kristin Meissner and Jennifer Patnode with a 65.

Other winners included: men's closest to the pin, Patrick McHugh; women's closest to the pin, Kathleen Coonan; men's longest drive, Donatello; women's longest drive, Kate Eldridge. Winner of the 50/50 raffle was Chuck Dodson, and Kevin Kieff's name was pulled for a brand new Big Bertha driver.

Honors for the Most Honest Team went to Rob Broccoli, Noelle Richer, MaDena DuChemin and Jimmy DuChemin. That foursome was sponsored by Gilroy, Kernan & Gilroy.

Saranac Booster tourney set

PERU -- The Saranac Boosters will sponsor their 4th-annual Fall Golf Classic on Sunday, Sept. 26 at the Adirondack Golf & Country Club with a noon shotgun start. The format will be a four person scramble with no handicap.

The entry fee is $60 for non-members and $45 for members which includes green fee, cart, and a barbeque following the event. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

Other awards will be given to both men & women for closes to the pin, closes to the line and longest drive. A hole-In-one contest, Skins game, mulligans, 50/50 drawing and a raffle are also planned.

Teams are asked to pre-register by Sept. 21. Entry forms are available at the Adirondack Golf & Country Club, Finney Sports, or can be obtained by calling Frank Trudeau, 293-7027, or Mary King, 293-7443.

Barracks plans 10-4-4 tourney

PLATTSBURGH -- The Barracks will hold a 10-4-4 two-man tournament on Sunday, Aug. 22.

The format is scramble on the par 4s, both scores count on the par 3s and alternate shot on the par 5s. Team handicap will be divided by 3.

Entry is $50 per team (includes skins) and non-members will be charged $25 for greens fees & cart.

Bluff Point Senior play Aug. 19

PLATTSBURGH -- The 13th-Annual Bluff Point Men's Senior Championship will be held Thursday, Aug. 19, beginning with at 8 a.m. shotgun start.

Prizes will be awarded to six players (gross and net) in each of five age groups. Also, there will be five closest to the pin and skins.

Applications are available at several locations and at Bluff Point with deadline Aug. 16. Entry fee is $45, which includes golf, cart, prizes and lunch.

AARCH outing set for Aug. 30

LAKE PLACID -- Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH) will host its second annual golf outing Aug. 30 at the Whiteface Club and Resort in Lake Placid.

It will be a four-man scramble with a lunch at noon and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $75, which includes lunch, greens fees and cart.

The registration deadline is Aug. 16 with golfers asked to provide their handicap at registration. To registger, or for more information, call 834-9328.

Dry Dock Open set for Aug. 28

PLATTSBURGH -- The First-Annual Dry Dock Open will be held Aug. 28, starting at 1 p.m. It will be a 3-person scramble with aggregate score on all par 3s.

The prize fund will offer $1,200 for first, $800 for second and $500 for third. Minimum handicap is 35 with only one player under 10 allowed.

Also, there will be closest to the pin and longest drive for men and for women.

Entry fee is $55 for members, $70 for non-members. The deadline is Aug. 21.

Dinner and awards will be at the Dry Dock.
