10 YEARS AGO (2001)

Saranac Lake's Andrea Kilbourne, a forward for Princeton University, is selected to play for the U.S. Women's Olympic Hockey Team in 2002.

Adam Porter scores 12 points in the second half to spark Ticonderoga to a 60-44 win over Northeastern Clinton. Jarod Johnson leads the Sentinels with 18 points while Ben Doody tallies 18 for the Cougars.

Scott Mitchell nets 15 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter to lead Brushton-Moira to a 57-50 come-from-behind win over Chateaugay.

AuSable Valley's Jody Ashline, at 135 pounds, earns the Outstanding Wrestler Award in the Indian River Tournament.

Gabe LeBlanc scores 14 points as Northeastern Clinton snaps Northern Adirondack's 19-game conference winning streak with a 59-54 victory.

Eighth-grader Corey Lewis sinks a layup with one second left to give Chazy a 45-44 win over Westport.

20 YEARS AGO (1991)

Westport overcomes Dave DuBois's 45-point effort to defeat Lake Placid 92-70. Craig Bullock leads the Eagles with 22 while Stephen Vogel chips in with 20.

Jeremy Collins' decision at 215 pounds gives Saranac a 27-22 win over Beekmantown in wrestling. Chris Howard, Matt Taylor and Seth Charles record pins for the Chiefs while Joey Desautels wins by fall for the Eagles.

Colleen Easterbrooks scores 19 points and Amy Cushman, 14, as Saranac Lake snaps a 4-year, 71-game conference losing streak with a 45-38 win over Moriah.

AuSable Valley's Brad Bortnick claims 4 firsts while Charlie Weisman and Curt Hanover are triple winners for PHS in the CVAC preseason swim invitational.

J.P. Mason scores 17 points and Joey Nixon contributes 14 as AuSable Valley knocks off previously unbeaten NAC 58-56.

Steve St. Clair hits for 16 points in Peru's 63-46 win over defending Div. I champ PHS. Nathan O'Hara leads the Hornets with 17.

25 YEARS AGO (1986)

Moscow Spartak skates to a 10-6 victory over Plattsburgh State in front of 3,500 at the Field House and a live television audience. Andre Giroux and Dave Piromalli each score twice for the Cardinals.

Todd Defayette and Scott Broderick combine for 6 goals and 6 assists as St. John's defeats New Hartford 11-6 in the final of the Albany Academy hockey tournament. Later in the week, Mike Cleveland nets 5 goals in the Irish's 11-1 thumping of NCCS.

Mike Schoot scores 16 points in MAI's 45-43 overtime victory over Ticonderoga. Will Fahey leads Ti with 12.

Shawn Pelkey pours in 27 points to lead Elizabethtown-Lewis to a 52-47 triumph over Chazy.

Glen Laventure's second goal of the game gives NCCS a 3-2 win over host Missisquoi Union in the tournament final. Mike Zurlo also scores for the Cougars while Ron Coulombe stars in net.

Mike Holland's goal in overtime gives Malone a 3-2 win over PHS. Ned Warner accounts for the other Huskie scores while Richie Collins scores twice for the Hornets.

Sarah Johnson scores 12 points and grabs 13 rebounds and Shannon Andrews fires in 22 points to lead St. John's to a 58-35 win over MAI. Rita Boule nets 12 for the Mounties.

30 YEARS AGO (1981)

Former St. John's standout Jon Ford, a sophomore at Norwich University, leads Div. III in rebounding with a 17.4 average. He is 14th in the nation in scoring, averaging 20.7 a game.

Chazy's Tom Rivera, coming off a 29-goal season, is named to the Third Team All-State in boys' soccer.

Bob Wolf nets 20 points and 19 rebounds to Elizabethtown-Lewis's 50-41 win over Crown Point.

Bill Brennan leads the way with 19 points while teammates Gary Manning and Tom LaPointe each tally 10 in Ticonderoga's 48-44 win over PHS. Angelo Sutton leads the Hornets with 18.

Pat Ryan and Darren Bracy each score 12 to lead MAI to a 51-46 win over St. John's. Eric Fuller nets 16 for the Irish.

Former PHS star Kevin Bushey is named most valuable player on the Hudson Valley Community College football team after recording 20 solo tackles, 18 assisted stops and 5 interceptions from his safety position.

40 YEARS AGO (1971)

Roy Ano drops in 22 points and Joe Ano adds 21 to lead AuSable Valley past PHS 68-52. Billy Sorrell leads the Hornets with 26.

Tom Fitzpatrick hits for 16 in Northeastern Clinton's 50-43 win over Ticonderoga. Bruce McCaughin leads the Sentinels with 16.

Alfred Devins' 5-5 draw with Bill Rock at 98 pounds propels Beekmantown to a stunning 31-19 upset of Saranac in wrestling.

Former PHS standouts Steve Pavone and Ken Stay are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the Dean Junior College football season.

Sophomore Don LaRock scores 26 points to lead Westport to an 83-63 win over Elizabethtown-Lewis. Pat Ward leads the Lions with 24 points.

MAI pours in 33 points in the fourth quarter to go on to defeat NAC 80-69. Cortney Smith leads the Mounties with 25 points while Wayne Trombley nets 24.

50 YEARS AGO (1961)

George Stetz scores 12 points to lead PHS to a 53-48 victory over MAI. Gus Dandrow nets 14 for the Mounties while Jerry Moynihan adds 12.

Ernie Bombard, Bob and Dick Matters, Bob Benway and Bob Torrance all register pins to lead AuSable Forks to a 28-26 win over Keeseville in wrestling. Dan Connell, Norman Peryea and Dick LaBounty post pins for Keeseville.

Bob Mangene tallies 23 points and Bob Coyne, 18, to lead Mooers to a 62-57 triumph over Altona. Chuck Lambert leads Altona with 13.

Will Holland's 20-point game sparks St. Joseph's to a 48-41 victory over OLVA.

Larry LaBarge drops in 18 points and Gary LaBarge adds 14 to lead Ellenburg to a 63-38 win over Saranac.

Dan Hopkins nets 17 to lead Ticonderoga past Mineville 49-47.

Pat Gregory comes up with 14 points as St. John's edges PHS 57-56. Fran Wilkins leads the Hornets with 16.

60 YEARS AGO (1951)

John D. Ryan, Norm Votraw and Clevice Fessette each net 10 points to lead St. John's to a 44-40 victory over Keeseville.

Jim Sears scores 15 points while Bob Garrow and Al Baldassari add 14 apiece and Gus Perna, 10, to lead Plattsburgh State to a 61-54 triumph over Potsdam State. George Molnar leads the Bears with 15.

Robert McGee scores 12 points to lead Peru to a 55-29 win over Mooers.

Cal Powers tallies 24 points in Lyon Mountain's 69-66 win over Chateaugay. Jack Mellon leads the Bulldogs with 20.

Ray Watkins scores 10 points and Dick Perry, 6, to lead MAI over St. John's 26-15.

70 YEARS AGO (1941)

Maynard scores 15 points, including the game-winning basket with seconds to play, to give AuSable Forks a 37-36 win over Plattsburgh High. Bailey chips in with 15.

Lynch scores 10 points to lead MAI to a 29-24 win over St. John's.

L. Bouyea nets 17 points and LaRose, 14, in Morrisonville's 52-26 win over Mooers.
